A mentally ill person sees people doing cruel things and being respected for it. Either that or they're the victim and everyone sides with the abuser.

The mentally ill person responds by copying what they see or what's done to them.

Society then uses that as evidence that mentally ill people are inherently evil. Society sees that action as "what mentally ill people do".

But it's society that's evil. You shouldn't have to wait until a mentally ill person does something in order to see what's wrong with it.

The problem w writing fiction is that you'll be like tee-hee I'm going to write a story about a fucked up little scenario that's got nothing to do with anything in real life, just some pure messed up nonsense, and then you finish it and take a step back and go aw rats I made a metaphor again
