35: a kiss against a wall ...

          violet  never  took  risks.  she  never  pulled  pranks  or  caused  mischief—at  least  in  the  traditional  sense.  usually,  she’d  rather  keep  her  distance,  roll  her  eyes  at  something  stupid  one  of  the  kids  said,  and  scoff  about  it  under  her  breath.  maybe  she’d  make  a  sarcastic  response  or  two,  but  as  far  as  pranks  went,  well—violet  typically  had  nothing  to  do  with  them.  until  clem,  that  is.

          violet  had  to  admit,  clementine  was  full  of  surprises.  if  someone  had  told  her  that  she’d  be  rushing  down  the  ericson  hallways,  rounding  a  corner,  and  pressing  herself  up  against  the  nearest  wall  to  momentarily  hide  after  pranking  aasim  of  all  people  with  clementine,  she  would’ve  told  them  to  get  bent.  no  way  would  she  have  believed  it.

          and  yet,  here  she  was,  chest  heaving  as  she  tried  to  catch  her  breath  and  suppress  her  giggles.  jade  eyes  glanced  over  to  meet  clem’s  hazel,  and  in  a  flash  of  boldness,  violet  moved  to  partially  stand  in  front  of  clem,  pressing  their  lips  together  briefly  in  an  adrenaline  fueled  kiss.  the  only  thing  to  tear  her  away  was  an  unflatteringly  high-pitched  squeal,  followed  by  a  string  of  loud  cursing.

          a  rush  of  giggles  flowed  out  of  violet  as  she  felt  clem  take  her  hand  and  they  were  off  again,  bounding  down  the  hallway  and  out  into  the  courtyard.

          clem  really  was  a  bad  influence.
