          beauty  could  almost  laugh  at  megara’s  question—it  was  as  if  the  brunette  was  reading  her  mind.  she  let  out  a  deep  breath  through  her  nose  as  she  responded,  “ you’d  think  i’d  be  used  to  it  after  working  here  for  as  long  as  i  have,  but…  ugh. ”  if  she  was  in  desperate  need  of  a  job  to  pay  back  that  stupid  loan,  she  wouldn’t  be  here  at  all.

          “ i  think  most  of  the  rooms  are  currently  occupied…  which  means  i’m  sure  they’ll  be  loads  of  fun  to  clean  later, ”  she  continued,  nose  wrinkling  at  the  thought.  “ it  was  busy  earlier,  but  i  think  it’s  finally  slowed  down  some  now…  still,  it’d  be  nice  to  have  a  radio  or  something.  i  could  do  without  all  the… ambience… ”

"You could say that." Megara let out a quiet sigh as she entered the motel, bag draped on one shoulder. Her eyes went to Beauty as she spoke, giving her a small smile, close to her normal smirk but tired. "How's it been tonight? Loud, noisy?" The brunette had had the longest of days, and while her job wasn't exactly glamorous it wasn't normally something that she struggled with. It was weird, getting used to the mundy world. After Hades though? She'd take these hard nights one hundred times over.

          nancy  wasn’t  a  fan  of  the  upside  down  either—ever  present  goosebumps  littered  her  arms  under  her  sweater—but  she  swallowed  the  anxiety  down.  she  had  to  be  strong  and  put  on  a  brave  face;  nevermind  how  things  with  vecna  might  go  this  time  around.  if  they  didn’t  risk  their  necks  who  would ?  what  would  happen  to  hawkins—and  god  forbid  the  world—if  they  didn’t  do  something ?

          steve  seemed  to  voice  her  thoughts,  however,  and  she  glanced  back  at  him  with  a  sympathetic  smile.  out  of  all  of  them,  nancy  probably  admired  steve  the  most.  he  never  had  to  be  involved  with  any  of  this—he  had  no  real  ties  to  will  or  barb—but  he  stuck  around;  he  helped…  nancy  didn’t  think  it’d  ever  be  possible  to  truly  thank  him  for  all  that  he  did.

          “ hey, ”  she  replied,  in  what  she  hoped  was  a  reassuring  tone,  “ we’ll  get  through  this.  it’ll  be  fine.  i  got  your  back. ”

          another  beat  passed  between  them,  and  in  an  attempt  to  lighten  the  mood,  she  playfully  added,  “ i  never  took  you  as  the  type  to  get  scared… ”
