obsessed with the way that gothic horror is about horror but never directly. it’s not horrific because there’s a haunted house and that’s scary, it’s horrific because the monster isn’t a monster, it’s your grief, your loss, your pride, your desire, your fear. the monster skulking in the shadows, the darkness at the edge of the woods, the haunted house that is too broken to be a home—those are manifestations of events that grabbed onto the fabric of time in a fit of abject horror and clamped down so tightly that they couldn’t keep moving forward toward resolution and eventual dissipation like they were supposed to. it’s all about the scared child and the mourning mother and the hunger in your gut and the little emptiness in your chest at the end of the day. those things are all little horrors but you can’t approach them directly to understand them, so gothic horror gives us these little metaphors and says “here play with these for a while and see what you find.” and all of those metaphors need someone to go back to childhood to release them. you have to care, and be curious and clever, and look for a way to heal the hurt. you have to be so achingly human to survive in gothic horror

I normally don’t ask for help - I struggle with asking close friends and family as is, let alone strangers. But it seems I have no choice but to come here due to family struggles.

I currently am alone, raising my son in an entirely different state than my family, going to school part time, and searching for a job that’ll work with my schedule. But until I find that job, I’m in a bit of a difficult situation. For those who don’t know, I have (diagnosed) severe depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety. My medicine currently costs $80 altogether (as my mother was only able to pay half).

I do NOT have any medication left. I’m currently in a state of immense distress and emotional turmoil/mental instability. I don’t want my child seeing me like this, and I know it’ll only get worse. I’ve been trying to hold off until I can afford it, but at this point I truly have no option. I’m not myself.

So I ask with a heavy heart that perhaps some of you may donate. I know everyone has their own struggles, I do, and asking for help can be unreasonable and even unfair. But I truly have no other option now but to ask for support. If anyone has even a little bit to spare, I’d be forever over the moon and in your debt!

Fire was never framed as a positive thing in the story. Think what happened to The Hound, Varys, when we see Melisandre burning people alive as sacrifices, Shireen, wildfire, and yes, Dany burning people alive as well.

Fire was not the hero.

And funnily enough, you would think that fire was heroic in one way, in the battle with the AotD and NK.

But they literally had ice (the Starks) take out ice. The NK couldn't be killed by dragonfire. The dead were still able to get past the fiery trench. No matter how much fire was thrown at the icy threat, it couldn't defeat it.

So while yes, Dany and her dragons were a massive help in the battle of the NK, no doubt, it wasn't fire that defeated ice. Dany didn't kill the NK just like he didn't kill her. The threats to Westeros didn't cancel each other out.

It was Arya (ice) who killed the NK:

And Jon (ice) who killed Dany:

The Starks (ice) were always going to win out in the end. Jon was always going to come back to his Stark side in the end.

i love him. very much okay? like "i see a 1 sec clip of him smiling at it makes my day" kind of love. like "his voice helps me fall asleep" kind of love. or "his lives and bubbles make me feel warm" kind of love. i cannot physically or verbally explain the extent (hence this long para) but it lowkey breaks my heart when it hits me at times that he might be a bit underrated. pls don't come at me, maybe it's just me but there are times when I feel like he's overshadowed in some places and underappreciated by fans (and i don't wanna sound rude by not respecting their choices or biases) but there's just a small part of me which thinks that way. but as long as he's happy and enjoying his time i really don't care about anything else cause, with every ounce of honesty in me, his smile makes my day. so, imma say it again.

i too love how he gives the people around him so much love but he doesnt seem to expect anything in return, and he does things without complaint <33 he'll cook for the dreamies (and he might "complain" about it but he still does it) and makes sure they eat first 😭

also yes.............his rap in countdown 321 i literally gasped when i first heard it, i love that part so much he went so hard and it kills me every time as well. i also super love his part in my youth, his lazy rap in his deep voice and when he harmonizes with renjun - literally my fav part of all time (my youth is also one of my top songs ever)

im sure everyone thinks their bias is underrated in some way but i think a lot of people see him for his looks (and of course i love jaemin center) but i think there seems to also be a lot more to him like his sweet personality (at least given what he shows to us), as you mentioned!!

and agreed, his smile is the best!!! 😍
