Offerings Forthe Dead
Offerings forĀ the Dead
Most people are reblogging an ask I answered long ago about offerings to give to the dead. Itās long overdue, but Iāve finally typed it up into an actual cohesive post.
~ Herbs ~Ā
Lavender, for peace in passing on
Thyme, to give peace to those who have died from violence
Apple, a common Irish symbol for the dead, which I often give to my ancestorsĀ
Pomegranates, myth of Persephone and all that
Rosemary, for remembrance
Myrrh, commonly used in necromancy, also used to give off good vibes
Chervil, often used in rituals for the dead
Mugwort, usually used to aid divination and communication with the dead. I also give it as an offering
Bay, same as mugwort (my mentality is that these herbs will help āsendā the offerings to the dead)
Lemonbalm, for peace and healing
Wormwood, to strengthen the communication with the dead, as well as healing and revenge
Frankincense, a traditional herb (usually incense) to honor the dead
~ Flowers ~Ā
Calendula, for blessings and eternal love
Rose petals (or the flower) for love and healing
Marigolds, perfect for ancestor worship (as well as spirit work salves and tea)
Lilies, for a sense of security and togetherness; ideal for children
Orchids, for balanced emotions and adoration; ideal for former lovers
Daisies, also ideal for former lovers and lost family members
Tulips, to spread happiness
Dandelions, ideal for connecting with certain spirits (especially when drunk as a tea)
~ Liquids ~
Water, a traditional offering for the dead, often left out for passing spirits
Wine or other alcohol
Juice, namely pomegranate or beet
Oils, such as olive oil, pomegranate oil, coconut, almond, vinegar
~ Other ~
Stones or crystals
Coins
Tobacco (I also know some people who use cigarette smoke or ashes)
Grains, traditionally brown bread
Meat
Candles, namely dark colored or earth-toned
Cleaning up graveyards, placing offerings on graves and speaking to them also makes a great offering
Song and music
Anything personal to the person youāre sending the offering to
~ What to do with the Offerings ~
Burn herbs or flowers (safely) with a written message to āsendā the offering to the soul
Leave coins, flowers or herbs on the grave
Pour liquid into the earth, or leave them out in a bowl
Leave offerings out as aĀ āstanding offeringā for the dead who pass through (idea from @arachnospooky)
This is SO overdue Iām so sorry but I hope it helps!!Ā

Harvest Bread Recipe (for College Students!)
If youāre like me and love harvest season (especially the Harvest Festival!), but are student with limited resources as far as cooking goes, youāll be looking for a simple bread recipe that could be baked in a dorm.
Iām not sure about yaāll universities, but mine allows me to have a crockpot/slow cooker in the dorm as well as a microwave. So here is a recipe for harvest bread that is perfect for dorm cooking!
Ingredients
3 cups flour
Ā¾ teaspoon yeast
1 Ā¼ teaspoon salt
1 Ā½ cups warm waterĀ
olive oil
Supplies
Large bowl
parchment paper
slow cooker/crockpot
Steps to Make Dough
Add flour, yeast and salt to your bowl
Stir it all thoroughly
Add your water to the mixtureĀ
Stir until dough forms
Lightly oil the outside of the dough ball
cover bowl with plastic wrap
Let rise for 6-8 hours is a warm dark space
fold dough in on itself on an oiled counter top
Let rise for another hour
Steps to Bake Loaf
Set your slow cooker to itās highest setting
Place shaped loaf on top of parchment paper in slow cooker
Cover with lid
Check loaf after 1 hour, since baking time varies if it is not cooked after 1 hour, check every 15-30 minutes until done.
Let cool and Enjoy!
Thanks for reading! hope you guys have as fun of a harvest season as I do!
Always Look Into The Mundane Before Stating You Have A Spirit Around
Seriously. Iāve seen a post like this before, but it needs to be said again.
Weird Smells? Go get your house inspected. You may have mold or a gas leak in your home.
Cold Spots? Again. Get your home checked out.
Creaking when no one is home? Your house/building is probably shifting. Get it inspected just to be safe.
Sibling or Child saying weird shit? They probably have an imaginary friend or are having fun. If it still freaks you out go to a mental health professional to rule out anything that could be causing them to say creepy-ass things. Better safe than sorry.
Hearing thumps? Check to see if any trees or bushes are hitting your house. Then check to make sure an animal you arenāt aware of isnāt making the noises. If you canāt find a cause, get it checked out by a professional.
Scratching in the walls? It could be a rodent. Get it checked out.
If you have checked all mundane reasons for what is being experienced by you or a relative/friend, then go onto spiritual reasons. You can always cleanse before you get things checked out thereās no harm in that. But to assume itās always a spirit is dangerous. You could put people at risk especially if itās rodents, a creaking house, or a gas leak.Ā
Because if it is those reasons then you can easily get it taken care of, but if you actively ignore it because you believe itās a spirit then itās all on you, not anyone else.Ā
Spirituality should not replace mundane reasons. Please consider the mundane in your practices.
