“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
— Albert Einstein
Hi, I was born out of nowhere in Gaza and I'm trying to connect with people who will help me get my story out on Tumblr.🍉
I am engineer Walid Al-Qatrawi. I am 34 years old. Father to Adam, Hala, and Nay. I have lived in the Gaza Strip since I was born.
My wife and I are also eagerly awaiting the arrival of our daughter, but due to the harsh realities of war in our area, we are facing severe financial difficulties.
As the due date approaches, we find ourselves struggling to cover the costs of a cesarean section, as well as my wife’s basic medical and health needs. With no income and the enormous challenges we face daily, we are reaching out to our community for support. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a huge difference in helping us welcome our daughter into the world safely.

Normalize not doing every single thing in life and not being a "perfect human"
It's okay if you never marry.
It's okay if you never have children.
It's okay if you never buy a house.
It's okay if you never graduate.
It's okay if you have few or no friends.
It's okay if you never party.
It's okay if your life isn't perfect.
It's okay if you are not straight.
It's okay if you don't know what you want to do.
It's okay if you struggle with mental health issues.
It's okay if you struggle with physical health issues.
It's okay if you suffer.
It's okay if [insert something you can't/don't want to/couldn't experience/go through/are...etc]
Life is not meant to be the same for everyone. In fact, the only reason why a lot of people do what they do is because of social conditioning. For some people, it will magically fit with their purpose, but for most it won't. Because it's not meant to.
It's detrimental to try to live a life that is not meant for you, or be someone that you are not.
None of this matters, and it won't matter once you are no longer here.
When you die, those that truly love you and those that see beyond the surface will not pay attention to what you did or didn't do, who you were or weren't', what you had or didn't have, what you struggled with, or who you were. Because you are valuable anyways.

"People mostly write and read very character driven, specific ship focused fic, because what most people want out of fanfiction is to focus on the romance between characters they're not getting in canon so they can soak in the vibes."
Yes, absolutely. And thank hell for all the authors who write character-driven, ship focused fic for us to soak in the vibes to.
But also…
thank hell for all the authors who write angst, whump, and hurt no comfort, for us to luxuriate in blorbo's hurt and pain and cry or cackle.
thank hell for all the authors who write cheating, love triangles and affairs for us to consume large quantities of popcorn to and yell 'oh no, they didn't'.
thank hell for all the authors who write case fic, mission fic, and intricate, plot-driven stories to replicate the feel of canon, when canon has stopped or gone wrong.
thank hell for all the authors who write 'fix it' fics when canon has betrayed us with bad vibes, plot holes and deaths.
thank hell for all the authors who write poly ships when what we need is just for everyone to get along and screw instead of screw up.
thank hell for all the authors who write gen fic when we're not interested in romance.
thank hell for all the authors in fandom, and all the wonderful, different kinds of fanfiction they write for us.

I think so many people are so deeply alienated from themselves that they have no clue how to exercise their free will and autonomy. For some, this alienation runs so deep that they are afraid of their own autonomy and humanity. It is completely understandable why one would have those feelings, but it can be worrisome.
I want to help others who feel this way, so here are small things I have done to exercise my free will:
Add "guilty pleasure" songs to playlists and actually listen to them (I have a ton of late 1990s-early 2000s music I listen to now proudly that I never listened to in the past out of shame)
Getting the décor item, bath set, bed spread, ect. in the patterns you like, even if it's "childish" (I got a dinosaur-themed wastebasket from the kids' décor section and I adore it)
Taking a new route to get to a place you go to often
Eat dessert first
Celebrate well, and often
Collect things that are "odd" or don't seem like an "acceptable" thing to collect (somebody on my "for you" page collects dandelion crayola crayons and it was so cool!!!!!!)
Incorporate one new piece in an outfit you wear frequently (e.g., a new chain, a necklace, ribbons, bracelets, ect.). Challenge yourself to add onto the outfits if you feel up for it.
Sing along to songs without worrying that you sound "good" or your intonation is completely accurate
Read a book from a genre you weren't allowed to read as a kid (comics, thrillers, mysteries, anything!)
Walk without having a specific destination or goal
Pick up a new craft without expecting yourself to master it or to ever be "good" enough. Get your hands messy.
I don't want to shame anybody for not feeling as though they have free will or that they are exempt from exercising it. However, I wanted to give ideas so that you might read this list and find your own ways to express your intrinsic autonomy and will. You deserve to be a person, to feel alive, not just living. That is what our lives are for.
It's ok to want money. It's ok to be upset that you're poor and wishing to be rich. I understand. People who say that money doesn't buy happiness have never eaten pasta every day because it's 50 cents at the grocery store or been short on money for christmas presents. Constantly scraping by makes people miserable and depressed and of course you're gonna dream about money, about being happy and priviledged. That's not greedy or horrible, that's life. It's ok.

ten years ago you were so scared of such different things, but you survived them anyway. the same goes for five years ago and two years ago. everything that has ever felt like a hurdle, you’ve passed through. so be afraid, identify your fears, and then allow yourself to remember that in just a little while, this will be another thing that you have overcome.

A few days ago I discovered this poor little guy laying on the train tracks at my local station, I took it upon myself to rescue him, clean him, and reunite him with his owner.

Chapter 1 of Wait for Me by @fullmetalpotterhead

I’m not doing anything wrong by living at my own pace
don’t worry about how you’ll feel tomorrow or how you felt yesterday. just focus on how you’re feeling right now. are you sad? watch something nice! are you angry? calm yourself down. are you happy? good. make sure to be aware of how you’re feeling and take care of yourself! <3

i don’t know who else needs to hear this, but it’s okay to take time to recharge your energy, especially if you get overwhelmed or have sensory overload more often than most people. it took me some time to accept that there is no shame in turning down an invitation for a party because i know it’ll be too overwhelming or simply turning off my phone to enjoy some peace and quiet. i used to think there was something broken with me for being sensitive around noises, people and other kinds of stimuli. but i’m gradually learning it’s okay to be wired a bit differently - and, actually a lot of other people also experience this! i know our culture loves to make burnout and stress look cool, but it’s just debilitating to your health in every aspect.
