You intend on slipping out of Oikawa Tooru’s life forever.  

It should be easy enough. You’ve had enough sense not to tell him where you live (even though he’s asked before). You ask to switch schedules, leave the hospital from a different exit every day. You even sweet talk the security guard to tip you off if he sees him around.

You are prepared to wall yourself up inside of yourself, far away from anyone else, ignoring the flood of messages and calls from him (you are unable to bring yourself to block him completely), but you do not account for Tooru’s tenacity, nor his ironclad will to chase after what his heart desires. 

“Where the hell have you been?” he snarls, ambushing you as you leave work, a relentless hunter seeking its prey. He drags you to a nearby park, your wrist in his bruising hold, forcing you to take a seat on a park bench.

 “Want to tell me why you’ve been avoiding me for two weeks?”

Feigned placidity is your shield, knuckles white as he looms before you, brows tight with frustration, but there is nowhere for you to run, so you have no choice but to face him defiantly. “I’ve been busy with work, Tooru. My life doesn’t revolve around you.”

He gapes, open mouthed, and at the first sign of his jaw drawing taut, you brace for his anger. It recedes, replaced by an aching sadness which is infinitely worse. 

“Do I truly mean nothing to you?”

Is there a universe where Oikawa Tooru means nothing to you? You doubt it exists. It is your fate that he burns more brilliantly than you, a golden boy with wax wings who tastes both of bitter heartache and sunshine. You cannot thwart fate even by hiding your heart away in a dungeon of steel and bone. 

But you are older now. If you were to allow him to break your heart again, your prognosis would not be as good as it was when you were twenty one. You may not heal. And it is only inevitable that he will break your heart -  who are you to compete with his true love, a mere spectator for his quest for the sun. 

So you stay silent, hoping your silence passes as a lie. 

“Say something”, he begs, but you only look down at your hands mutely, wishing for the gods to turn you to stone. 

“Fine”, he spits. “Fine, I’ll just - I’ll just go.” 

He’s only taken a few steps when you call after him. 

“Tooru - wait.“

You hate that you have to extinguish the hope in his eyes with your bare hands. 

“I’m sorry.”

Your palms are scorched with white hot burns. He turns away, but still his voice carries over the winter chill. 

“I’m sorry too.”

confusion shot through your body as you nervously rubbed your cheek

Kageyama's face turned red out of embarrassment while everyone in the gym bursts out in laughter

You chuckled slightly as you patted Kageyama's shoulder

everyone bursts out of laughter. Makki and Mattsun on the floor wiping their tears. Kunimi hitting Kindaichi's arm. Kindaichi laughing but also being in pain bc of Kunimi. Yahaba trying to catch his breath. Mad Dog standing in the corner with a small teasing smile on his face

"iWaA-cHaNnN" Makki mocks

"y/N-cHaNNn iS cHEatiNg oN mEeeE" Mattsun continues

his face turns pale as he stared at the ceiling

you snicker and stand up "damn this sure is a way to say you love me" you say letting out an exaggerated sigh

everyone laughs more. Iwa lowkey teasing Oikawa about it

Oikawa sulks in the corner but everyone freezes at your next words

"feelings are mutual don't worry"

Katsuki Bakugou

mf slams his door open. comes down to the common room while stomping like a child who didn't get the toy he wants

"OI SHITTY WOMAN! DON'T YOU FUCKIN' DARE CHEAT ON ME! ESPECIALLY NOT WITH SHITTY HAIR!" he shouts angrily pointing you who was talking to Mina

confused you opened your mouth to say something but he beat you to it

"I HAD A DREAM THAT YOU CHEATED ON ME WITH SHITTY HAIR OK?!" he says "c'mere baby. look I know I'm not sweet and all but...I love you. I love you too much to lose you" he hugs you showing you how much he loves you in front of everyone for them to know you belong to him

"Baku-kun we're not dating" you say looking up at him with innocent doe eyes

man's face turned pale as everyone bursts out of laughter

so everyone was peacefully chatting and conversing with their friends

you and your friends on the other hand are talking about crushes. so when one of your friends asked who you like a little too loud for the whole class to hear everyone's attention was on you

blushing slightly you rubbed your neck as your eyes flickered around the room "uhm...Asano i guess" you muttered loud enough for everyone to hear

they started cheering and teasing you. that is until a certain strawberry blonde haired boy entered

he walked towards you with a frown. everyone watching intensely

"you." he pointed at you "don't ever cheat on me I swear my father will hear about it and will expel whoever they are."

everyone's attention was now on the two of you

he looked around and when his eyes landed on you he hugged you

you felt wet dropplets falling to your baseball uniform

"Megumi..are you crying?" you asked your hand rubbing his back

everyone walked towards you two concerned

"i..i had a dream that- that you cheated on me" he says sadness evident in his voice "y-you won't do that right?"

you smiled softly. hands holding his face as you shook your head

"of course not!" you pecked his lips "i love you and only you alright?"

he smiled and nodded

y'all were getting in the moment. sweet and romantic tension filling the air

and then..

"you guys..are dating?" Nobara asks

you and Megumi turned to them pale faced

"tuna tuna" Inumaki mutters

"BAHAHAHAHA I-IS THIS WHAT YOU CALL FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS?!" Itadori laughs out

everyone joined along laughing at you and Megumi who's pale faced and embarrassed

"b-but hey! at least we know that we both feel the same way!" you argued as Megumi nodded in agreement

you trudged up the walkway leading to bokuto’s house, tightly grasping the bottles of cider that you had brought for the occasion. the spiky-haired ace had had the brilliant idea to host a holiday party with his friends, and he had convinced you to come by giving you his famous puppy dog eyes that he knew you couldn’t resist. a soft sigh left your lips as you shifted the cider bottles to one arm, getting ready to knock on the door and stopping when someone else beat you to it. 

“need help?” a soft voice asked. you turned to find akaashi standing next to you, smiling in greeting as he reached for the bottles.

“thanks,” you replied, smiling back as you observed him. he was dressed smartly, a nice shirt tucked into black pants, a peacoat, and his glasses, looking every bit the part of the literature major that he was. you couldn’t help the way your heart leapt as your eyes met his, a pretty blue piercing into pretty (e/c) as you stood out in the cold. 

neither one of you noticed kuroo and bokuto watching from the window.
