Hi, I'm a new rammstein fan and I'm still discovering things about the band. I saw the band fly an LGBTQIA flag in Dublin (I'm proud they did it in my adopted country) and I know they've done it before. I was wondering if there was any particular reason for them to take up this cause?

Rammstein have always been a very open-minded band, with no real taboos. They have sung about all possible forms of love, including homoerotic love with the song Mann Gegen Mann.

But it was in 2019 that they really expressed their support for LGBT+ people, as countries such as Russia and Poland introduced laws drastically restricting LGBT rights. In Poland, the boys called a local LGBT association to provide them with rainbow flags, which they proudly raised as they rode the boats towards the stage. And in Russia, Paul and Richard kissed : it wasn't the first time they'd kissed on stage, but this time it was very political.

Till commented on these actions : "Everyone can do whatever he or she wants. There are no limits, no taboos. It simply boggles my mind that you can still be so backward-minded and have something against homosexuality. I'm not usually the one who gets involved in these discussions, but sometimes you just have to speak up." Source

We also know that the members of the group had "homoerotic experiences", as Flake said it in his podcast : "I'm not unfamiliar with the feeling that I see a man and think: 'Man, he looks good.' Till has also had relationships with transgender people, which inspired the song Ladyboy. But he has another very good reason for defending LGBT rights : one of his children is engaged to a person of the same sex.

In this fandom we like to have fun imagining ships between the boys, Tipaul, Tillake, Paulchard, etc, it's only fiction we know but their commitment to LGBT+ rights is real and sincere 🏳️‍🌈❤️
