Please save what's left of my family I am Mahmoud Saleh. I have never seen such misery in my life! Let me describe to you the life of my torn-apart family amidst the sprawling camps, scattered here and there. Among the fabrics in the shape of tents, pain resides in every corner of this place, and anguish looms over it. Under a relentless sun and a night cold that steals the last bit of warmth from your body... The remnants of my family live in a place that is almost an exile for human life as we know it. There is no home to shelter them from the winter cold, no trees to bear fruit or provide shade, and no water to quench their thirst. There is a torn tent, damp firewood, and children who dream...

What crime did my family commit to reach this level of misery? Their simple dreams or their memories? Whatever the reason, it happened, and poverty settled in every corner of their tents, and misery etched itself on their faces. The innocent hands of our children have become rough and calloused like those of a ninety-year-old man.

My mother and sisters spend their time lighting fires with great effort until their eyes fill with tears, washing clothes, and sewing holes in the tent in their spare time. I used to think that punishment in prison was the harshest form of torture, but I quickly changed my mind when I saw the suffering and agony of my family! Winds take you right and left, and you spend your day tightening the tent stakes that often let you down.

You sleep wishing you could keep one eye open for fear of the treachery of rodents that might attack. It's no wonder you wake up to find yourself floating above your children's tattered clothes and the firewood you spent ten days collecting.

You are trapped. Misery is everywhere, and poverty has made itself comfortable in the corner of the tents. In that place where you inhale despair and exhale hope, what a cursed place my simple family lives in, constantly struggling with life's necessities.

It is death surrounding them from all sides, invading their homes without warning. Patience is beautiful, fighting despair is a belief in an imminent relief. This is their weapon in the face of a life that bears nothing of its name.They want to live... they want a chance to continue their lives...I stand now before these kind hearts, hoping to help what remains of my family and provide them with a better living, to grant them safety and peace.

I'd like to talk about someone who needs help, but does not have tumblr and is currently sheltering in an area with very little connection to the world outside Gaza. She has requested that I reach out on her behalf.

Her name is Basma Elghoul, a 30 year old mother of 3 -- Toleen (8 years old), Malak (6 years old), Kamal (4 years old). She is a beautician and owned a women's salon. Her husband is an electrician. And they lost every thing after Oct. 7th, their home, their businesses, their children's school.

They had to evacuate to the south and have been living in a tent for the last 8 months. They no longer have a source of income and their children are all ill due to the pollution of the food and water.

All Basma wants is to evacuate her children so that they can have healthy food and clean water and so they can live and get an education like other children.

Their fundraiser is incredibly low on funds. Their goal is kr350,000 SEK (close to 34,000 USD) and they have received very few donations -- so far kr1,650 (around 160 USD)

A lovely Gazan teacher named Dina Maliha has reached out to me to help share her campaign with you.

The Maliha family once led a humble and stable life, when everything they'd worked for was taken from them on Oct. 7th. They have faced unimaginable horror and indignity as they've been forced to evacuate from norther Gaza to the south under threat of heavy gunfire and bombing, as well as aggression from Israeli occupation forces.

They are currently raising the funds they need to evacuate their family from Gaza. Everyday that passes, their lives are all at risk, either from bombardment, or lack of food and water. Dina's mother is also chronically ill, and this difficult life they are leading is putting her at greater risk.
