"Yeah, you do," Fyodor said, not paying you any attention. However, when he was met with silence, he realized that you were serious, and god, he had fucked up, because his words had hurt you even more.

Fyodor looked up from his work, his usually cold and unrelenting gaze softened ever so slightly by your words. He saw your figure staring down at the ground, quiet for the first time.

He reached a hand out to you and you leaned away from it, not wanting any of his empty words and apologies right now. But when he pulled his chair closer to yours and leaned in closer to you, you couldn't help but let out a tiny whine.

Fyodor smiled softly - perhaps for the first time in ages - and ruffled your hair. He was never too good with verbal affection when it was genuine, but the way he hugged you soon after told you all that you needed to know.
