Parallel lines don't meet, they just walk together, they say. Not us, but me and you, were parallel lines. I thought. But, we aren't. We are parallel universe. Dynamic. Spontaneous, not plain and straight. We're the same old souls, wounded in the same battles, stabbed with the same daggers. If only you knew. I smile the way you smile, only one corner of your lips twitching, both eyes crinkilng,like a fresh drizzle of rain, half blooming flowers. I close my ears when I silence my sobs, only to hear your muffled cries. You watch the Moon with longing, and me..? you're the one I see in the Moon. The touching of tendrils, the golden flakes of our orbs, the rigidity of our heart because of our circumstances, the vulnerability we never show the world, the words we like to keep hushed yet hear it unsaid, the nostalgia warming us when it rains, the sky being our constant friend, the night a mix of agony, solitude and relief for you and me. You see the world as I see, fencing ourselves with the harshness, hearts as that of birds, fragile and tender.

I know the way your curious sight searches for the odds in things. Forgotten diaries, scribbled notes from strangers. I've found myself slipping in their shoes too. If only you knew.

If the Rabb of all the universes allows, I'd like our universes to be merged. You'd love that too. I know. You and Me to Us. But you and me, do know, it's just the Dua that one can always render to. And then, you too are uncared to pronounce it, and I too am tired to mention it. For, we're the Parallel Universe. Side by side, confined in our own self, some embankment of world separating You and Me, not Us. If only you knew, dear soulmate..oh, now a stranger.

Feeling safe in someone's energy is a different type of intimacy. That peace of mind and security is very underrated and I cannot emphasize this enough.

How can the eyes not shed tears when the likes of the sahaba live amongst us and we are not like them or amongst their company? How can the mind not be in agony when there are those who have given up all the pleasures and forfeited their desires for the sake of Allah alone? How does the heart not grieve severely over those souls that have ascended to Firdaws while we still remain captives to our desires in the dunya?
