Disrespect Won't Be Tolerated | Firelord Zuko x waterbender!Reader

"I want to marry you" Zuko's voice was soft but strong as he held her. He didn't care. He hated dating her in secret. He loved her and couldn't think of anyone else he would want to be with. He knew that there were many in his counsel who despised the other nations still. And many of his citizens as well. But it was time. He was going to marry her, if his people liked it or not.

In his hand he held a small blue necklace. He had asked Katara and Sokka to help him carve his own engagement necklace for her.

"Oh... Zuko..." (Y/n) said softly. "How can we--" he stopped her with a soft kiss. "I want to tell... Everyone. I'm finally taking Uncle's advice. I shouldn't be afraid of loving you... In front of the whole kingdom."

Her arms wrapped around the young leader's neck. His arms were strong around her. "Of course, Zuko. I will marry you" his eyes were bright with joy. Zuko never expected to feel this happy. Instantly the necklace was around her neck and it was the beginning of a long social war.

A week passed since their engagement. Zuko had announced it quickly after and it was their engagement feast. Nobles from the firenation as well as few leaders from the water nation were in attendance. It was a peaceful dinner thus far. Uncle Iroh was gleefully speaking to (Y/n)'s father and Zuko was speaking with a nobleman from his own kingdom. Even the Aang and the rest of their friends were in attendance. Everyone was so happy. (Y/n), however, had found herself wandering out onto the balcony. The heat and noise from the conversations were over stimulating. Sweat crawled off of her forehead, as she opened her fan that was recently gifted to her.

"Are you okay?" Zuko's rough voice came from behind her. He slid the door shut and leaned against the barrier on the balcony. Her arms wrapped around his and laid her head against his shoulder.

"I'm okay." Zuko's face flushed a pink color as he looked at his new fiance. Man, did he love her. However, his happiness was short lived when the balcony one over opened to an older general and a noble. Zuko watched them closely. The were both still very against Ozai's traitor son ruling and dismantling the firenation.

"Can you believe this?" The nobleman spoke. He paced and launched a fireball. "Disgusting. Zuko is destroying the great firenation. A hundred years thrown out and then he has the nerve to marry a water tribe woman?"

"Not just a water tribe woman... A bender, sir" the other man spoke. Zuko's fingers curled around the metal bar before them. The iron burned bright red for a moment. He was getting very angry as the two men spoke.

"Zuko" she whispered, soft and calm as always. She leaned up, careful not to touch his hands or the metal. She kissed his cheek, just below his scar. He hissed out. He stopped burning the bar and moved to grip her hand in his. His hand was still warm, holding her tightly. "Come. Let's go find Uncle and father" he referred to your father as his own now. Those two men were more his father than anyone else had been before.

"And the water tribe members... Did you eat their food?" The general laughed. "Disgusting... Just as their tribe. And her father... What a strange man. Wolf pelts in the middle of spring... Traditions. " that set him off, if he wasn't already. No one insulted his family. He tugged her along, leaving her at the side of Uncle Iroh.

"Uncle" she touched his arm. "Zuko is being stupid... Please" Iroh nodded, patting her hand softly.

"I'll go speak with him. Don't you worry, just enjoy your party" Zuko was off stomping towards the door. No one stood in his way so he was making good time. However, Uncle wasn't far behind.

"Zuko!" He half shouted. "What is wrong?" Zuko was seething now. He had barely out grown his rage but he was much better at directing it at those who really deserved it.

His hand was on the handle when Uncle spoke to him.

"What's wrong?" Aang's voice was calm as he approached his friend, (Y/n).

"Some stupid noble... Close minded" she half sighed, her fingers mindlessly touched her necklace. Zuko was arguing with Uncle. It was clear Uncle was upset as well. The were now both moving out onto the balcony. The two men were thrown back into the party.

"You two are no longer welcome here" Zuko shouted. The once loud party was instantly silenced. "But Firelord!" The nobleman looks shocked. "We don't understand!" Zuko glared down at them.

"You come into my home and insult my family? And the work I have done?" Zuko threw a fireball, causing the man to cower. Iroh stood by his side.

"Disrespect is never tolerated here" Iroh said backing up his nephew.

"Whatever do you mean, sir?" The general spoke, faking his ignorance.

"I heard you insult them. My family. My fiancee is twice the person you will ever be." he threw another flame between the generals legs. "You both are no longer welcome here. And anyone else who thinks I'll of my new family can leave as well" A few older men stood up and left.

"None of you are keeping your titles!" He shouted after them.

"Zuko!" After the ordeal he seemed to not notice the small fire on the carpet. Luckily a guard noticed and quickly made the fire go out with his bending.

Zuko finally started to come from his enraged fog. He looked at his mess. Then over to his fiancee. A small smile peaked at the corners of her lips. She quickly wandered to his side and hugged him tight. She knew that he would always be on her side and that was amazing.

"Thank you, Zuko" she kissed him and a few awws were heard. His cheeks turned as red as the firenation flag that hung from a near by wall.

"I will do anything to protect you and our family" Zuko said softly.

Iroh now called everyone's attention.

"Let's have a toast to the happy couple. May they always keep peace between our nations and may they always be successful in everything they do" he raised his tea with everyone, as Zuko tool his sweet (Y/n) into his arms and placed a soft kiss to her head.

You were sad, not angry, not furious, just utterly sad. You felt like deep down you knew it was going to come to this, but you hoped for the best. But then you went by his office, uninvited…your first mistake. He was pushing his secretary up against the wall, having a rather intense lip battle apparently.

You couldn’t cry, you were unable to feel any emotion to be completely honest, you managed to leave the building unseen and drive yourself home like a madman.

Getting there your only goal was to get to you room as quick as possible, from point A to point B in the least possible time.

You storm up the stairs in front of the manor, quickly getting inside, slamming the door behind you. The boys were having dinner already so they obviously heard you coming in, they knew something was off.

You say nothing, running up the wooden staircase with all of your outdoors clothing still on, not bothering to take it off when you have to put it all back on very soon.

Closing your bedroom door, you slide down it, finally letting your sadness pour out. The boys knew something was very, very wrong when you didn’t say anything coming in, that had not once happened before, so they all gather behind your door, listening intently.

Your sobs were clear as day to them, but soon they also heard shuffling that gave them a horrible gut feeling. The shuffling was you piling all the things you own into a large bag, because you knew you needed to run, you needed to leave before Bruce was anywhere near home.

Your heart clenches when you hear Damians voice behind the door,a powerful sob traveling through you. “Ummi, are you alright?”

“I’m fine baby,” You answer, not even trying to hide the sadness in your voice, “Ma, we know something's wrong,” Jason says, you could hear the slight panic in his unsure voice. “Yeah mom, please talk to us,” Dick tries to coax, Tim joining in, “Yeah mom, please.”

The shuffling stops, and the door opens, revealing your red and swollen face. “It’s probably irresponsible of me to tell you, but we’re all adults, or think like them…”You say, taking a deep breath. “Your father cheated on me and I don’t think I can remain here for the time being.” You say looking at the floor in shame.

“That ass hole, I’ll kill him,”Jason yells in anger, ready to take of. “NO NO NO! Please don’t, I was actually wondering if I could crash in your apartment until I find another place.”You ask him. “I can write up the divorce papers, to make sure you get custody of us,” Tim offers, all the boys humming in agreement, to which you nod. He quickly goes to work. “Ummi what can I do?” Damian asks, sad for his dad’s inadequacy.

You sigh going back to the room, continuing to pack your things, “Could you get all my things from that draw,” You point at the last drawer you haven’t yet had the chance to empty. “I’ll go get the car ready,” Dick says.

Soon all your things were packed and thrown in the trunk of the car, all the boys getting in. “Were gonna be with you tonight,” Tim informs, holding a folder of paper. 

Arriving at the apartment, the boys carry all your things inside, Jason emptying his bed for you. “I can sleep on the couch, darling.” 

“No ma of mine is sleeping on no couch!” Jason proclaims, causing you to chuckle for the first time tonight. 

While you were getting settled in and starting a movie night, Bruce finally came home, greeted by silence, apart from Alfred of course. But Alfred seemed uneasy, even a bit angry. “Where is everybody?” He finally asks the butler. “They got in a car and left” the older man calmly states.

“Why?Where?” He asks.

“Something about you seeing other women, and I didn’t ask, I thought it’s best If I didn’t know.” Alfred says leaving Bruce’s side. Bruce was internally panicking, he never meant for you to find out, you were his wife for god’s sake, and he threw it all away for a moment of lust.

He immediately started searching for you, quickly figuring out that you were at Jason’s place. He knew his chances were slim to none, but he hoped you could forgive him.

Knocking on the door he anxiously awaits a reply. Soon Dick comes to the door. “What the fuck are you doing here Bruce?” He angrily questions, loud enough that everyone knew of his presence. “I’m here to see MY WIFE.” He replies, “Well mom doesn’t wish to see you.” Dick truthfully tells him.

Bruce sees you in the doorway a bit further back behind Dick, looking the saddest he’s ever seen you. “y/n please,” Bruce attempts to plead. “Dick’s right, I don’t want to see you, now and never,” You sigh, handing him the stack of signed paper Tim had given you. Dick closes the door in his face, Bruce knew that he had lost the only thing he still dearly loved.

Disorder/Disability: Dyslexia, Epilepsy, and Anxiety.

Personality: I am a sweet, loving, stubborn, caring, and understanding woman but if you mess with me/hurt me, my family, friends, or the people I love I become scary-scary.

Likes/love to do: I love to drawing/painting, embroidery, reading (I am a bit of a bookworm), anime, cosplaying, doing any type of math, and baking in my free time.

I think that you and Frodo would get along really well. He would like that you were really protective of your friends and family because he knows how important those relationships are. Frodo is very soothing, so he’s perfect to have around when you’re feeling anxious. He would love to sit and read with you. The fire would be going and the two of you would be sitting in arm chairs side by side, books open in your respective laps. He would also love to give and get book recommendations. If you’re baking something then Frodo is sitting patiently, watching and waiting to give whatever you made a taste. The two of you would walk all around the Shire, holding hands and smiling at each other. He’d pick flowers and tuck them into your curls as his cheeks turned pink. It’s all very sweet.

Leon loves to see all your paintings and is always complimenting your work. He definitely buys any paints/brushes/other supplies he sees in the market place to give to you so that you never run out of what you need. Leon would never let anyone yell at you and if anyone ever tries then he would take care of it very quickly. He would be really good at comforting you whenever you’re feeling anxious. Definitely ready at all times to take care of any spiders that end up in your house. He takes care of it quickly and quietly, so you don’t need to worry. Leon loves how sweet and caring you are and he appreciates how well you treat him and everyone else close to you. He takes you on dates to the castle library (which can be very hard to get into for most people, but not him) and sits patiently as you flip through whatever book you found for the day. He also loves to ask you questions about what you’re reading and will listen intently to your answers, smiling the whole time.
