I feel that one thing that's commonly forgotten when people are trying to discourse about the ethics of HDG is that in its Canon... humans lost... like really badly. And looking to other sci-fi Canons for what happens to humans when they lose to a hyperadvanced precursor race, I'd say it's important that we remember what the affini present ain't all that bad.

Think about 40k, the allied mastercomputer, the qu, and any number of other bleak sci-fi depictions of humans being conquered, and now look at the affini.

Oh horror of horrors, they're going to make you eat, sleep, and socialize on a proper schedule as well as cum reeeaaally fucking hard. You'll never want for anything in your life because anything you could want would've already been anticipated and given to you, and that's even assuming they just domesticated every single human... which they don't.
