The door creaks open, slowly but the moment you heard the door handle rattle, you already had your gun in your hand. You sit still, watching, waiting for whoever it was to show themselves; you think it’s an hit-man sent by your ex-husband to kill you in your sleep but the face that appears surprises you.

“Jongin,” your voice breaks as you lower your gun, clicking the safety on in the process, “what are you doing here? How did you find me?” Closing the door behind him, he sighs in relief to see you, moving quickly to your side to embrace you.

Jongin is the reason you ran away from your husband, filing for a divorce and causing the split between the families - some choosing you, while others stayed with him. You hadn’t meant to fall in love, keeping the affair secret out of fear of what would happen but eventually, fear turned to paranoia and you had to escape.

Giving you a once over, Jongin answers your questions, “it took a while, you really know how to hide when you don’t want to be found.” He gives you a melancholic smile, “but I remember you saying once, that you loved looking out at the vineyards in Italy so that’s where I began looking.”

He remembers so much, every little detail you told him, Jongin remembers even when he pretends to be oblivious to such things. Your heart aches, with both the sadness that you felt from being away from him and with the love you have for him. You wonder if he’s here, how far away are the men your ex undoubtedly sent after you?

“We can’t stay here for long, my love,” Jongin nods but doesn’t make a move to leave, instead lying down and pulling you with him.

Nuzzling into your neck, you shiver when Jongin’s breath tickles your skin, “give us one night together before we run,” he pleads, how much he’s missed you seeping into his voice. “We won’t be running forever but please, give us one night.”

You know it may not be safe but you have never been good at turning him down, so you snuggle into his arms and relish in the feel of him. Tomorrow may bring danger but at least you’ll face it with Jongin this time.
