Scrolling Tonblr with Nicola Coughlan

Never before have I identified with a tv character so much.
The fucking audacity of some people - a bit late but I recently read the reprehensible article in the Spectator by Zoe Strimpel. I am FUMING ✋🏽
The article in question cruelly body-shamed and denigrated the Queen of our hearts, the incredibly talented Nicola Coughlan.
From the opening lines mocking her appearance and weight to the unrelenting torrent of insults and vitriol throughout, this article was nothing more than a bitter, jealous diatribe projecting Strimpel's own insecurities onto one of the most beloved and successful actors of our time. Coughlan is universally praised for her immense talent, charisma, and for portraying strong, confident female characters that inspire millions. Yet rather than celebrate her accomplishments, Strimpel chose to focus solely on viciously tearing down Coughlan's physical appearance in the most cruel and misogynistic terms.
This crass, embittered, and completely unnecessary hit piece on Nicola Coughlan has no redeeming value whatsoever. It is a vapid and insecure attempt to tear down a brilliant, successful woman and diminish her accomplishments by reducing her solely to an object to be cruelly criticized for her appearance. I know we don’t expect much from The Spectator, but this was low even for them.
While I understand the twisted desire to court controversy and stir reaction at times, there is no justification for publishing such a vitriolic personal assault cloaked in thinly-veiled misogyny and insecurity.
Strimpel's shameful denigration of Coughlan is rooted in her own issues, not any legitimate criticism, and it has no place in the world we’ve fought so hard to build.
I am appalled that anyone would give a platform to this kind of baseless and malicious body-shaming of a talented, successful woman.
And finally - don’t go looking for the article. Don’t give them the views or the clicks. Don’t give them the audience they so desperately want.
