I won't lie the scumcumplane AU is in the same AU I made Shen Yuan a fifty year old man before he transmigrated. I didn't mention it because I forgor

He's a well known academic that specializes in classic literature and psychology studies, and is a xianxia nerd in his free time. I'm slightly basing this on a college professor I had (pretty chill guy, like a grandpa and also surprisingly a weeb).

When Shen Yuan transmigrated, he's in the body of a thirty something year old rogue cultivator. He meets Shang Qinghua during a supplies run, and they clock each other as transmigrators instantly. I'd imagine Shen Yuan was Shang Qinghua's professor at some point and probably was a whole sexuality crisis for him (something something silver fox Shen Yuan).

But yeah in this AU Shang Qinghua was working on helping Shen Jiu with varying success, at least the scum villain trusts him. So when Shang Qinghua comes around and introduces a rogue cultivator, he isn't immediately releasing the hounds.

It's a pretty fluffy AU and it has my favorite flavor of Shen Yuan (completely unfazed by everything because he's seen some things).

Him and Shen Jiu bond over literature, and Shen Yuan does clock a few of Shen Jiu's mental health issues and tries to help where he can. Shen Jiu just likes the have occasional pampering and people to complain to.

I just find the idea of Shen Jiu accidentally bagging two (mentally) 50-60 year olds a little amusing. Shen Yuan and Shang Qinghua are complaining about their backs hurting and how they need to take a nap. And then Shen Jiu just slots himself in-between like a cat during its afternoon nap.

If there was murder, I'd imagine the most reaction it'll get from Shen Yuan is "Oh no. We're probably going to have to work on that, aren't we?" He's a professional in his field, he learned how to be unbiased.

So I definitely see Shen Yuan being pretty unfazed by most things because of the things he's helped other people with in the past.

Sometimes I'm tempted to write angst with NO happy ending. Especially with JiuYuan.

Do you guys understand how much unrequited (or unknowingly required) JiuYuan FUCKS?! DO YOU GET THAT UNHEALTHY AND TOXIC JIUYUAN FUCKS SO HARD ITS CRIMINAL?!!

An au where Shen Yuan unknowingly helps Shen Jiu escape the Qiu's and he becomes SJ's obsession afterwards. But Shen Yuan ends up never talking to Shen Jiu again and simply doesn't remember him. He means the world to Shen Jiu, but for Shen Yuan it was just a Monday.

An au where Shen Yuan grew up with Shen Jiu and Yue Qi, but constantly gets set aside because those two are more codependent on each other than him. Shen Yuan wants to have love too even if it's unhealthy. And when the two have a falling out, he tries to shoot his shot but Shen Jiu is too closed off and ignores him.

Another au where they grew up together but they both killed people so they think their tainted or evil and they don't want to ruin the other. So they end up distancing themselves from the other until they haven't spoken in years. And Shen Yuan doesn't become a cultivator and Shen Jiu becomes an immortal master. So at his deathbed Shen Yuan finally sends a letter detailing his feelings for Shen Jiu. And somewhere in the letter it's says something like "I'm being selfish right now. It's a selfish thing to write you this letter. I could've died with this secret, yet I share it with you. I hope my name means nothing to you at this point, and I'm simply just another child you had to deal with as a street rat. You're beautiful and always have been. I'm glad you're reaching your potential." And Shen Jiu is in a panic trying to find Shen Yuan because that was a selfish thing to do. Shen Yuan isn't selfish, he isn't selfish with Shen Jiu, yet he's been selfish by telling him this just now and dying on him without facing him. And when Shen Jiu finds him it's too late, and he only has a stone with his name to keep him company.

An au where Shen Yuan is crazy about Shen Jiu instead of Luo Binghe, and he gets transmigrated to PIDW while Shen Jiu is being tortured. Shen Yuan manages to get Shen Jiu out, but the man is unresponsive and refuses to eat. And like Shen Yuan is DESPERATELY trying to save him, but you can't save someone from the water if they're committed to drowning. So either Bingge finds them or Shen Yuan forces himself to free Shen Jiu from his pain.

PARASOCIAL STREAMER AU WHERE THEY'RE BOTH FANS OF EACH OTHER'S CONTENT. They're crazy about each other but they don't know it. They're borderline stalking each other. Then one of them says something about already liking someone special in an interview or something and it causes the other to spiral.

I think in my SY is obsessed with SQQ it would be incredibly hard to tell if Shen Yuan had rose tinted glasses when it comes to Shen Jiu or just genuinely has a fucked up moral compass regarding Shen Jiu.

Like Shen Yuan watches Shen Qingqiu make a lord cry and kick a child, and he just sighs dreamily and says "I'm so happy Jiu-er is enjoying himself". And no one can tell if he's just not fully getting the horror of Shen Qingqiu's behavior or he genuinely doesn't care about anyone else but Shen Qingqiu.

Like I'd imagine that Hallmaster Shen is an incredibly kind and friendly man, but when he's acting as Shen Qingqiu's husband, you better not expect the same compassion as before.

The switch up would be CRAZY. Like one day you're having a pleasant conversation with him, the next he barely acknowledges you and doesn't even realize you're around because his husband is there

As promised, here is my Shen Yuan AU, the "tiger of Bai Zhan" shen yuan (⁠ ⁠ꈍ⁠ᴗ⁠ꈍ⁠)

I wanted to make something for the mascs and tops in the audience because in my humble opinion we need more big rugged shen yuan. (Also cuz I ship him so hard with sqq and them being total opposites has my brain going brrrrrr)

So what is this about? Basically in this au shen yuan is this absolute fiend who joins Bai Zhan at like 10, ( also meeting sqq by accident while on his way to the mountain). He's unapologetically fixated on everything monster and demon related, he has no qualms about beating the fuck out of anybody who makes fun of him, he's strong he's careless and an absolute headache to every single one of his shixiongs to a point where they have to send him away on missions and isolation training just to get him off their backs. He goes to brothels once he's old enough and does not care for any sort of chastity, drinking and having fun as much as he pleases and his peak is absolutely unable to stop him because he's one of their best assets.

I'm working through his backstory and why he ended up like this (he's still a transmigrator) but this post is already lengthy enough (⁠⌐⁠■⁠-⁠■⁠)

All the silly stuff is here, mostly with Shen Yuan in the age range of 5 to about 14. There is also a small doodle of Liu Qingge here, I feel like if that guy was challenged in any way on his peak he would be the most insufferable person to exist, he'd pester Yuan until he would start actively avoiding him LMAO

Also I forgot to specify, that old man in the first doodle is Shen Yuan's grandfather in the new world, Shen Zhan, a carpenter and also a very well put together person unlike his unruly grandson who he loves with his whole heart non the less ^⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠^ He was actually the first person to ever call Yuan a tiger.

I wanted to also show the difference between Yuan interacting with animals and him interacting with other people, that boy is in love with every creature he sees and they all love him too. His martial siblings are not fans of how he smells like wet dog most of the time though ಠ⁠ᴥ⁠ಠ

Maybe it's just me but when it comes to JiuYuan i want it to be weird. I want them to be that couple that had to take a DNA test before ever getting together because they look alike a bit too much, i want them to be the couple whose pics get resposted to one of those "Siblings or dating" pages, i want them to be plausibally picked to play twins in a porno

AU where instead of Shen Yuan being obsessed with Luo Binghe, he's instead obsessed with the scum villain himself. I mean we all know Bingge is Very Not Good Person™ but you know who else a Very Not Good Person™? Say it with me: Shen Jiu

Like just imagine a timeline where Shen Yuan is writing paragraph after paragraph about how Shen Qingqiu might actually be a good person but Airplane is wasting his potential. The other commenters are saying he's delusional because he abused the protagonist and as all these TERRIBLE allegations towards him. So he's a clear cut villain.

But Shen Yuan is defending his fav with the vigor of a devout worshipper. He's constantly siting parts that are obvious plot holes and how they could give much needed context to Shen Qingqiu's character.

Other people are demanding for worst things to happen to Shen Qingqiu to spite him. Airplane caves. Shen Yuan actively commissions art and fics where Shen Qingqiu is happy. People tell him "Shen Qingqiu won't fuck you bro"

Shen Yuan isn't interested in that. He's a freaky little man with freaky little likes. He'd gladly take Shen Qingqiu's cold glares and even volunteer to have tea poured on him.

When he finishes PIDW, he's been outraged that Shen Qingqiu was killed off a while back. He's even more outraged that Shen Qingqiu wasn't given any mention at the end.

Now, imagine with me that he gets transmigrated into some NPC, literally Unimportant Character No°5. Probably as the head disciple for drama reasons. And as soon as Shen Jiu is brought in, scruffy and hissing as he is. He immediately hugging his thighs and saying he'll be peak lord for sure.

Please follow me into this suspicious alleyway as I continue to explain my vision fueled by sleep deprivation.

So now imagine your Shen Jiu. You're a former street rat and demonic cultivator, you aren't expecting to be liked or respected. You're expecting it, you've come to terms with it a long time ago. What you weren't expecting was for this random ass guy you have to call da-shixiong is immediately insane about you.

He met you first day, literally saw you bite a guy, and immediately started spouting out how you'll be the next peak lord and the absolute envy of Cang Qiong Mountain. You conclude he's missing a few screws because he said it in the most disgustingly sincere way.

You try to continue on with your life, trying to beat him and he looks almost... Excited about you beating him. So he's an M, you think to yourself. But then you see someone trying to beat him or you on something, and this guy immediately gets aggressive. Okay so he's just weird with you.

You continue to deal with him. He's weird but also weirdly respectful. He leaves if you tell him to leave. He defends you like it's his very birth right. He's always there to tend to you as if you were a god. He doesn't touch you and only sits around like a dog waiting for a command.

You eventually get strong enough to beat him, and this absolute buffoon is over the moon about it, already spouting about your supposed success again.

When you actually become peak lord, it isn't surprising. Your hype man has been saying it since day one, he was expecting it for some reason. He continues to spout out nonsense about how he just knew you were going to do it.

So what now? You obviously desire him carnally. What is the next step?

Okay so I know this wouldn't fix them. Almost without question this would make they both worse. But, hear me out, it would be funny. (Especially since just know Shen Yuan's entire inner monologue would be him saying he's just being a good friend as if he isn't being the gayest man in the sect and Shang Qinghua is there. That's an accomplishment to outgay the author)

Some of the Peak Lords coming to talk to (berate) Shen Qingqiu but accidentally watching him fucking nasty with his husband (Shen Yuan) who they've never seen or heard off.

I think the fact that Binghe has curly hair in the Fanart design of him is PEAK. For one, the ideal standard of beauty that you’d expect out of a harem protagonist is silky straight hair!

It’s the beauty ideal in China. I have naturally curly hair inherited from my mother, and instead of being taught how to bring out my curls at the hairdresser, my hair is “frizzy,” and I get pushed into getting a straight perm.

My mom, likewise, has always hated her curly hair and was dismayed (dismayed!) when my hormones caused my hair texture to change from straight to her curls.

For two, the idea of Shen Qingqiu adoring it would fix me, I’m sure.

Your insecurity is something he adores about you. He makes poetry likening it to sheep’s wool, he runs his hands through it and helps you maintain it. Something most people consider a flaw, and that doesn’t even occur to him.

It’s so radical. It comes naturally to him!

I was rewatching Gideon Rises and that scene in which he taunts Dipper by saying he has no muscle nor brains to fight back by himself without the Journal's help really gets to me...

And you know what? Ignore Ford's biased by society's expectations on a 1960's man: Dipper's greatest strenght was NEVER his brains.

I mean, he's incredibly smart, there's no doubt. But Gravity Falls is not a place in which you can survive with that alone despite Gideon and Ford saying so.

Dipper's greatest strenght was always the same as Stan: it's how much he loves his family and how far he's willing to go for his sister.

That same love was what made him stand up to the weirdness in Gravity Falls and always find a way out countless times. It's the reason he could sacrifice things for Mabel again and again and never once feel like she was in debt. The reason he could rescue her from Bill's perfect prison in Mabeland and EVEN THE REASON FORD WAS STILL HERE FOR WEIRDMAGEDDON.

The only thing able to subdue Dipper's very naturally human fear of death was his love for his new great uncle.

On a parallel note, Ford's strenght was actually the same as Mabel all along. His love for the unconventional and ability to think outside the box.

The same episode Mabel meets her favorite magical creature and finds out they're an asshole we get the flashback of Ford experiencing the exact same thing.

AU for you all presented to me by a dream- hikikomori!Light.

I had this dream where Light was a hikikomori on very bad terms with his family, struggling to hold a job, arguing with Sachiko, even Sayu was pretty sick of his attitude and Soichiro went on a scathing rant about his wasted potential. Whether or not that was actually warranted at all is something I'll never know because my alarm woke me up like 30 seconds later. I think there was a blurb about him being Kira but again, I woke up.

But it did make me think about an AU around the idea.

AU where being a gifted child genius took a toll on Light and resulted in a nervous breakdown while still in high school and just... never fully really recovering from it it. He's still an unparalleled genius- he has homework delivered to his house and only physically goes to school on exam days and still gets top grades. Despite it all he still helps Sayu with her homework and studying quite often (he quietly remarks to himself it's the least he can do) and even sometimes still helps the police solve cases despite essentially locking himself into his room for 23 hours a day amid a growing cluster of books, manga, and anime figures.

I don't see there being a lot of trash buildup despite there being a huge amount of clutter- something Sayu I think notices as she spends more time getting help with homework is that there's a bit of an organized chaos to that? Sayu notes it looks disorganized but if you look carefully there's an entire book on legal theory and police work, the shounen and seinen mangas have their own stacks, magical girls have their own stack, fiction novels have their own, everything is alphabetical, etc etc. To everyone else it looks like an unholy mess but Light is clearly able to find anything he needs right away as if his room was as clean as it is in canon- if anything, it makes it very easy for him to hide stuff.

Could be Light Is Not Kira AU or even a regular Kira thing? In my dream I think it mentioned him being Kira and I imagined him taking a walk, trying to get some fresh-air to make Sachiko happy and at least going to pick up his homework in person, and finding the notebook still lying there... picking up the notebook, becoming Kira giving him an outlook and drive to succeed again, but with a different mentality maybe? Or if it's someone else that's Kira, taking an interest and wanting to personally investigate the mysterious deaths?

... Also, if Misa is involved, knowing her, ofc she tries to indulge Light's interests and gets unexpectedly hook. Please imagine Misa getting really into a seinen manga of all things.

I'm pretty new to this fandom on tumblr outside of the rpc from 2014... thoughts? Ideas? Just wanted to share this dream in case anyone was interested!

Listen. I am just an endless death note AU generator. Currently I have the following going on:

Coffee shop AU but starting slightly before Light becomes Kira: Light meets this mysterious stranger who was tired/felt like adding weirdness to the world one morning and didn't choose a false name for his coffee orders, and it becomes this sort of running joke/game between them with Light trying to figure out his name or various lore about him and L finding this extremely amusing. But then Light finds the death note. L joins the case. Neither of them know this about each other yet, and as Light and L begin to suspect each other they're still keeping up the charade of casual friendship and a half-joking challenge while it takes on a whole additional dimension and they're catching feelings. Hell on earth for poor Light. They have chess sex at one point.

Death Note Randall and Hopkirk (deceased) AU: my personal favorite but extremely niche. Basically ghost L but. a Specific Flavor. Not only do I steal the rahd lore, but there are some Details (muahaha etc.) You don't need to have seen rahd to enjoy it. Here's a playlist but you could not get me to post the actual fic yet under torture

Modern day AU but the main way that this effects the plot is that Light is majorly into competitive Microsoft Excel and L is secretly the world champion that he's had an intense rivalry with ever since Light started.

Another ghost L thing but in this one L possesses Light's body after his death and now they have to Share

Similar to those time travel AUs where Light and/or L gets sent back and have to decide whether to make different decisions except it's the task force (excluding L and Light) and they have to decide whether to try to prove it and arrest him or try to help him and whether they should let Light know about this or if that would be a death sentence. Lots of problem solving, lots of decision making, Light gets to unmask <3 (This one was inspired by (but different from) a tumblr post I should add a link to if I can find it)

One where I mess with the lore so that Light is transforming into a shinigami due to the number of people he has killed (symbolism etc) but this starts right before his confinement so he has to try to hide it and it generally messes up his plans horribly because. Imagine being under constant observation by the world's greatest detective but you're literally transforming into a death god while trying to hide that anything is unusual about you at all.

"Characters watch the show" but it's characters get transported to this world and exposed to modern fandom. This takes place during the warehouse so Light's alive but Mikami is there. They're just yoinked out of there. There is another version of this that takes place during Yotsuba Arc instead.

Along similar-ish lines, a blatantly comedic fic where L reads explicit rpf about L and Kira in front of Light at one point during Yotsuba Arc and Light gets really mad about it leading to intense debate of what Kira would be like in bed, among other things. Keep in mind Light does not have his memories but he does have strong opinions on the topic, for some mysterious reason that Light tries really hard to justify to himself

And more. I love making things worse for my poor little meow meow specifically because I understand his brand of problem solving on a spiritual level and I like to watch it play out. But also because pushing Light to his extremes and seeing how much it takes for him to snap is like crack to me. Mentally putting this guy in saw traps.

Death note au idea (that came to me from a dream) where literally after L dies, he wakes up and seemed to have time travelled. It would've been fine, better even for him, if it weren't for the fact he woke up as Light yagami.

What happened in my dream was that after L dies he literally just wakes up in light's body, from the first day that the yagami household is under survelliance. But he doesn't notice that first because he literally just died. He panics, puts a hand on his heart and feels it beating before sighing in relief. After calming down, he puts his knees to his chest and bites his nails, looking down, and numerous thoughts wonder to his head but there is one thing for certain.

He was right. Light yagami IS kira.

He needs to do something about this, and if he's still alive, he would be able to test the death note and put both kiras to prison but... he looks around and sees that he's no longer in HQ. The place is famili-- this is light's room. And then he just hears ryuk trying to communicate with him, and in shock falls down, before looking at ryuk again, his eyes twinkles. I just remember L in disbelief whispers '... another shinigami' that was totally audible to the wiretaps alright.

(But I never dreamt of what L, soichiro and watari'a reaction was. If I were to guess it would be similar with the response video by misa.)

He composes himself, and thinks, ryuk laughs at his reaction, but seemingly more amused with what's above his head with the way he had been staring at it. He looks down again and sees different clothing, it seemed right but also wrong. That's when he realizes, this is not his body. When Light (L) was about to ask ryuk questions, he shuts his mouth again. As he felt that he was being watched. A realisation dawns to him.

He's currently light yagami, and at the time the yagami household is under survelliance.

And now L has to struggle trying to act as light, which he does terribly, and avoid dying again, and as kira at that.

I don't remember much, I just remember like these snippets of him being scolded by sachiko everytime he slouched, puts his feet on the chair, or does his staring. That when he gets scolded his eyes down turns and if his face weren't emotionless, it would look like he's pouting.

The thing is, L is a great liar but not as much as an actor. Or when it comes to controlling his facial features, to make a comforting smile, an earnest chuckle or make a worried look. He often just defaults to blank. (This is a head Canon if I'm wrong lmfao I have to finished the anime help).

I dunno if he was able to actually pull it off, but what I DO remember is that HE FOUND OUT ABOUT THE POTATO CHIP.

AU where Light is completely obsessed with L. Full on Jareth to L's Sarah. The rain scene becomes Light's twisted confession, on his knees for L yet demanding his attention. His gaze. His Love. His Life. Everything he did was for L, gave him a puzzle to lead them together, so that he may offer a world not his to give on a platter.

There is madness in his eyes from where he kneels, devotion and desperation. It's horrifying, the depths of his infatuation. Yet L cannot look away. This wasn't like B, who tried to give him an unsolvable puzzle to prove superiority. It was a gift, soaked in the blood of thousands and the insanity of a boy, barely a man, for a Letter on a screen.
