another fun character dynamic is "highly specialized idiot & deadpan dickhead" but not the kind where the idiot is made fun of for being stupid or is just Too Foolish to realize that the dickhead doesn't like them. I like the kind where the dickhead is truly deeply fond of their idiot, but their fond sarcasm reads as sincere threats to everybody except the idiot. idiot (can kill a man in two seconds flat) asks "what kind of animal is the pink panther?" and dickhead (needs help opening pickle jars) deadpans "maul isn't strong enough. they're going to need a new word in the dictionary for what i'm about to do to you."
