“Vaccinated people are, in essence, being asked to make a sacrifice to help slow coronavirus spread among the unvaccinated. Officials have stressed that those who have been inoculated have an excellent chance of being protected, even from the easily spread Delta variant, believed to be twice as transmissible as the conventional coronavirus strains. Between Dec. 7 and June 7, the unvaccinated accounted for 99.6% of L.A. County’s coronavirus cases, 98.7% of COVID-19 hospitalizations and 99.8% of deaths.”

L.A. County will require masks indoors amid COVID-19 surge

Get your fucking shit together you ignorant, stupid, arrogant, antivaxxer pieces of shit.

HOW TO MEDITATE EFFECTIVELY

STEP 1: Have a sacred space.

Not everyone will have a separate room for this. It is not necessary to. Many set aside a nook in their bedroom or a corner in their living room.

While anyone can meditate anywhere — in your car, on a plane, in a public toilet —  it is important to have a defined meditation area. Because it will condition your mind and body to know that when you are in that space, your worries float away and you are completely safe.

STEP 2: Turn that space into paradise.

You do not need a lot of money for this.

Use throw pillows if you cannot afford floor cushions at the moment. Your body has to remain comfortable no matter how long you remain seated.

Use a can of Febreze if your current budget does not allow for scented candles. The air that you breathe needs to be able to remind you of your favorite place, food, scent or moment.

No matter how small or simple your sacred space is, it has to be a sanctuary that can melt away your fears.

STEP 3: Create a playlist.

Instrumental songs — those without vocals — are ideal. Others prefer ambient sound, like the rain or the ocean. There are apps for this. Search for “meditation music”.

Of course there are some who would rather meditate in total quietness. The hum of the air conditioner, for example, can be calming to many. But the idea of pressing “play” gives your meditation sessions a sense of being official, conditioning your mind to open up and your body to relax.

STEP 4: Schedule your sessions.

If you live in a dormitory, do it when your roommates are gone for most of the day. If you live with your parents, do it when they are away.

Avoid not giving yourself enough time, such as meditating when you know you have to leave the house in 10 minutes, or when waiting for an important phone call that can disrupt your session.

Meditation is a sacred conversation among your higher self, your conscious self and your shadow self. Never rush it.

STEP 5: Do not strive to empty your mind.

Start by taking slow, deep breaths. When you meditate, you let your anxieties gradually fall away. This process happens by itself.

With every breath, your mind and body grow calmer. And these negative thoughts and emotions become unstuck by themselves, leaving your existence, and making space for optimism.

That is what it really means to empty your mind. It does not mean you have to sit there and literally pressure yourself to think of nothing. That is rather stressful and the exact opposite of the result you are hoping for.

Just keep breathing deeply and watch it happen naturally.

STEP 6: Stop when your heart feels light.

This is why you must never rush it. Setting a time limit is counterproductive to what meditation is trying to achieve. You, in the moment, not your phone’s alarm, should decide when you are ready to close the session.

Before standing up, take at least five more deep breaths and then extinguish any candles and turn off the music.

Make sure you tidy up. Fluff up the cushions and put everything back where it belongs. Because the next time you enter your sacred space, everything should be clean, ready and in place.
