I have been postponing this shit for literal months but I have decided NO MORE! I will do the thing!

INTRODUCING…

More headcanons on Rin being a gangster.

Now, to begin, where the hell did this gangster Rin shit stem from? Ah, it came from an ask ages ago that I built upon. For those of you who don’t know, the gangster Rin thing revolves around Rin being part of a gang called “Nightingales”. The leader of this gang is a huge scary looking but soft-hearted African American man named Killian, or Lee for short. He took Rin under his wing when Rin was 13 and honed Rin’s existing skills to a razor sharp point. Rin joined the gang because he wanted to make a shitload of money to keep his family supported, and keep them safe all the while. Unbeknownst to anyone except himself, not only was he saving all the money as a back up plan, but also in case his depression got worse and he ended up flying off the handle and offing himself. He knew he was messed up and didn’t want to risk anything. Rin kept the gang thing a secret to protect his family from rival gangs. He has never murdered in cold blood; the policy of Nightingales is “Maim, not murder”. He “left” the gang after Shiro died to become an exorcist, but still does scouting jobs and sometimes his homies will pick him up to take him on a job.

So, without further ado, here are some assorted details:

-Rin feels great remorse for his actions but feels they were necessary to keep his family safe due to all the gangs in the area.

-He was very good at hand-to-hand combat, so he’d often participate in a fighting ring in which people from gangs fight each other until one yields while rich people bet on them because apparently watching poor people beat each other for money is hilarious to them.

-His favorite jobs to do were to intimidate someone by kicking the shit out of them because he knew it made people more afraid of him and less likely to fuck with his loved ones.

-His least favorite jobs to do were the drug dealing and smuggling because not only could being caught ruin his life, but he knew he was the reason peoples lives were being ruined.

-He and Lee get along quite well and often just sit in silence. No words need to be said; they both know the other hates what they have to do to stay alive.

-All the morally grey stuff he’s done wears on Rin’s conscience and he sometimes considers suicide before smacking himself.

-He still has all the money he’s saved up from years of fighting. He throws it towards the dorm to make it more presentable.

-Rin has a lot of connections to people so if he needs help, he has like 3 different people he can call for the task. For example, the toilet’s broken? He knows like 7 plumbers who’ll fix it for free, and 3 who will just remodel the whole damn bathroom for him.

-Rin has a shitload of blackmail at hand, and often uses it against rich assholes who try to fuck over the poor.

-Rin once scared the shit out of Shiro by fucking up some guy who’d broken into the monastery. He hadn’t expected Rin to be so strong and inconspicuously checked on the Koma sword.

-Yukio always suspected Rin was up to something, and when everything Rin had done for him without him even knowing was revealed, he was fucking pissed. He knew then that he’d never be stronger than his brother, which was part of what drove him over the edge.

-The only reason the Illuminati hasn’t fucked with Rin much yet is because they’re aware of all his connections and know they could be overwhelmed. They also recognize his extreme resilience in regards to handling pressure and fucked up tasks, so they know they can’t manipulate him.

-When Yukio flew off the handle and exorcists were sent to retrieve him from the Illuminati, they were surprised to find the place already under attack from other exorcists. It was because of these exorcists that they won. In reality, they weren’t exorcists at all; they were some of Rin’s connections whom Rin had sent after his brother.

- Rin is surprisingly good at shooting a gun. No one knows why except him; he’s shot at people before. He’s just never hit them in vital areas.

- most people assume that Rin’s so good at climbing shit because he’s a demon; in truth, that’s only part of it; the other factor is all of the scaling he had to do to sneak around.

-Rin is a fucking parkour master because of all his scouting jobs. He is surprisingly good at sneaking, something Mephisto has noticed and noted.

-Not even Mephisto knows who exactly Rin is involved with because Rin has guarded this information so well; this pisses him off greatly.

-Shura was the first person Rin told about his gang related past. She was fucking horrified and wondered if Shiro had inadvertently raised a weapon after all.

-Suguro was pretty shook when he found out about Rin’s past gang activity. So was Shiemi!

-Lewin knew who Rin was when he first saw him because Lewin is lowkey involved with Nightingales.
