Manderen dived off the deck of the Rusty Treasure and into the salt water below, the touch of the water revealing her gills and fins, as well as turning her skin purple. It was still a sensation she was getting used to, having never been out of the water before becoming a pirate. She didn't see the point in leaving the water back then, all of what she needed lived right along side her, but after the... mistake, for lack of a better term, she was forced to leave the sea.

She swam below the wooden boards of the ship, careful not to hit her tail against the barnicals that were stuck to it. They were already running low on supplies as it was, she didn't want to have to use up more on herself. That would be shellfish, wouldn't it? Selfish? Was that how humans said that word?

Human language was weird.

Reaching the back of the boat, it seemed her theory was correct. There was in fact cookie cutter sharks tailing the ship, ripe for the picking. She had promised Captain Daphne that she wouldn't kill the small creatures, so she would hold true to that. All she needed was their teeth anyways.

Mandy noticed one of them was dump enough to try to cut a hole in the ship like they normally did for live animals, and she quickly snatched it away from the wooden boards.

"Bad shark! You don't want us to sink, do you?" She asked it as it thrashed around in her hand, only causing her to tighten her grip moreso. "I think that's enough to deserve pushiment. Lucky for you, this will benefit both of us!" Manderen smiled wildly at the small shark, and moved her hand up to it's jaw in order to keep it from snapping on her fingers.

One by one, she pulled each tooth out of the shark's head, it squirming around in pain at the ones that weren't loose enough to just tap out. Blood poured out of the poor animal's gums, reddening the water around them and getting stuck in the mermaids hair.

She didn't seem to mind.

The other sharks swam away in a hurry during the scene, Mandy groaning when she realized. "Great, look what you did! You scared away your friends, now I can't have fun with them!" She scolded the underwater creature, before letting it swim free.

Looking at the teeth in the palm of her hand, she sighed. "This can't be enough to help heal the whole crew." The pirate frowned in defeat.

The fins on her head shivered when when they sensed vibrations in the water below her, and peering down, she noticed that she was about to be in big trouble.

"There! There is Moray! Arrest her!" A merman yelled, looking to be the biggest in the school of three.

"Eep!" She shouted, swiftly closing the palm of her hand before swimming off towards the ship. Manderen was not in any way ready for a fight, let alone against three law enforcers! Picking up speed, she forced herself to breach above the water, getting only just close enough to grab the edge of the deck with a yelp.

Her skin went back to pale as the salty wind touched it, and goodbye went her fins and gills. Now she just had to try to figure out how to get these lanky unbalanced legs to lift her onto the ship, and she should be home free.

Seeing some boots walk past her on the boards, she yelled for help. Mandy was lucky the crewmate heard her, and the man pulled her up. Lying on her back, she dropped the shark teeth and sucked in some air.

Finally, that was too close for comfort.

Her luck seemed to run out though, as the mermen started trying to get onto the ship as well. The mermaid cursed under her breath, and got up to run inside, almost tripping a few times along the way.

Oh goodness, she was going to have to tell the captain, wasn't she?
