You listen to the sound of your money getting sucked into the vending machine, as it's mechanics start to turn the spiral holding the snacks in place from which spot you'd put in the numbers. You're hungry- and your about to finally have some food in your belly now-

Except the snack doesn't fall down- it gets stuck, mockingly so, swaying a little even, but never enough to free itself.

You want to scream.

This was your last money you had, nothing else in your pockets as your eyes tear up at the sight of what was supposed to be your lunch staring at you behind the glass.

And meanwhile, yoongi is watching from a bit of distance as he sits in front of his van, book in his hand not having his full on attention any longer.

People view him as rather cold and a lone wolf- someone who doesn't care about others, but that's not actually true. He just isn't as social and dependant on constant presence of someone else around- he rather lives on his own and without anything to really care about other than himself. But watching you, he sees himself a little; back when he first started and left all he knew behind to live on his own, with nothing to his name.

He's still a nobody at least to anyone who comes across him- a sucessful producer who's never shown his face to the public or anybody else for that matter; but he's living a comfortable life, doesn't have to worry much about money, while you're clearly upset about your little misfortune.

So he sighs, putting his book away before he walks over to you to help.

You're so invested into trying to push the change button to maybe get your money back that you don't see him walk up behind you whatsoever. He taps your shoulder gently, making his presence known, "Hey-" he starts, but you suddenly turn around, eyes wide and oh wow you're pretty-

And then you're on the ground in front of him, seemingly lifeless.

Uhm..

When you finally started University, you really thought the whole school behavior you've lived through all those years would stop. People were basically adults now here, right? And adults didn't behave like kids.

How wrong you were.

Sometimes, it felt as if adults were even more petty and mean as teenagers and kids still in school- and it frankly didn't do you much good. You weren't necessarily unhappy with yourself- you actually thought you were quite decent. However, considering you were one of the more.. rarely seen hybrids, there's standard slurs thrown after you constantly.

'Do you think she knows satanic rituals?' No, you didn't, and satanic stuff is constantly connected to goats anyways. You're a sheep-not a goat.

'Bro she's got movie-theater vision!' No, your vision was simply a bit different from the average hybrid and predators.

'I heard she's cursed or some shit. Like, she can literally see behind her, what the fuck..' that much is true, but its called nature.

It all didn't help that you couldn't even speak to most people you met- avoiding the cafeteria for years now because the lady up front got super irritated by your stuttering everytime it had been your turn to order something. It had humiliated you- so much so, that you simply decided to keep quiet from now on, keep your head low, and don't spend much more time at Uni than you needed to.

Just like now, as you were on your way home.

You cringe a bit at the pain you feel in the muscles of your leg- you've probably pulled something when tripping down the stairs some days ago- having tried hard not to fall and make a total fool of yourself.

"Well fuck me.." you hear someone's voice, making you turn around as the young man sighs to himself. It's Jeon Jungkook; he's studying to become a physiotherapist one day- at least that's what he'd told you when he'd accidentally ran into you first week of Uni. "Oh hey- have you seen my bike? It's red, has a crappy Obey sticker on it?" He asks you, and your eyes widen a bit in shock at being addressed, before you avert your gaze, pointing at the trashcans close by where it's been put behind the metal containers to hide it. "Ah those Fuckers!" He laughs. "Thanks!" He says, before he moves to get his bike.

You feel dismissed, so you start walking towards the exit of the premise.

"Oh hey, by the way-!" He calls out, sitting on his bike, pushing himself alongside you with his feet down to keep the speed low. "Haven't seen you around much. Thought you'd disappeared or something." He chuckles, and you shrug, though you smile to not seem rude. "Ah, you're quiet. I get that. I talk a bit too much to be honest." He laughs to himself. "Are you okay? I've noticed you've been walking a bit odd."

"Uhm.." you start, trying hard to focus on your speaking so it won't become embarrassing. "I f-f-..." you lower your face a bit, becoming self-conscious suddenly when you noticed it won't come out smoothly.

"Oh its fine, take your time." He smiles simply, moving alongside you like it's no big deal.

It gives you the energy to try again.

"I tripped downstairs." You rush out in one go luckily, and his mouth opens in an 'o' shape in understanding. "On Monday." You add on, and he looks at you a bit concerned.

"Did you get it checked?" He asks, and you shake your head- before you suddenly pull on his jacket to pull him a bit to the side- two kids on their bikes rushing past him. "Holy shit- thanks! How'd you see that?" He laughs, looking back himself.

"I.. yknow, my weird eyes, I c-can see like-" you motion with one hand around your head. "All around. Almost. I can't see like.. the back of my head." You explain, and his eyes widen.

"Oh shit I didn't know that! So you can see this?" He asks, holding to fingers up behind your shoulder.

"You holding two fingers u-up?" You giggle a bit, and he laughs boyishly.

"Yeah, that's so cool!" He answers, almost riding straight into a lamp post with his bike if not for you pushing him again- before you laugh along with him. "Hey- we don't have classes tomorrow, do you wanna hang out?" He bluntly asks, and your eyes widen a bit.

"Uh.. like, uh.. I'm really boring though-" you say.

"Nah, don't think so. Listen, I got both Netflix and Amazon prime and a shit ton of snacks, and I promise I'm not some fuckboy either." He winks, loosing balance on his bike for a second, making you laugh. "Won't hold it against you if you say no though."

"No no, I'd uh.. I like that." You say, stopping as you're going a different way now- turning now, while he clearly was heading straight up the road. "I uh.."

"Oh yeah right, fuck hold on." He says, pulling his phone out of his pocket before it falls to the ground. "Oh shit!"He curses, picking it up- the back of device already decorated with tape. "Ah, here-" he says, wiping his screen before showing it to you.

You pull out your own, in stark contrast to his; safely tucked into a pastel colored case, decorated with stickers and charms hanging from the bottom.

"Alright, it's a date then!" He grins, before his ears turn down in embarrassment. "Oh shit like not a date- unless you want it to be one that's cool too cause you're cute- okay you know what I'm gonna just go home." He says, turning to leave, waving before he speeds off with his bike.

While you, at home, throw yourself into your bed and plushies, trying hard not to scream.

You really don't need a crush now.

His wings hold him securely in the sky as he scans the neighbourhood for the house he needs to find.

It's dark, late at night, but the child he's been tasked to isn't asleep when he finally settles on the large tree nearby, able to see into her window from his spot. The little girl is simply acting,fooling her mother until she deems it safe to open her eyes again.

When she sits up, nothing happens at first.

The child takes out what he thinks is a deck of playing cards, two dolls, and a bunch of little toy cars, neatly placing it on her blanket before she waits. His brows furrow as he observes the scene; her little chubby cheeks beginning to puff in happiness as she smiles excitedly when the shadows in the corner of her room morph into what he believes to be the demon attached to her.

Jungkook immediately becomes rather uneasy, getting into a different position to be able to quickly interfere as soon as he needs to. Demons can be vicious creatures, never sparing even the youngest of souls. And while he knows they have their purpose, it still doesn't sit straight with him how any being could torture an innocent soul like that just for entertainment and personal gain.

But what he spots isn't what he expected.

He's a little more than surprised to see the happiness in the little kid's face at the sight of the young demon, who sits down on her bed like second nature, before the two of you begin to play with the toys the kid has chosen for tonight.

This is certainly something new- and something he's not been told when his superior had given him the task.

"I need you to resolve a situation on earth for me." his superior tells him, arms crossed. "a young child is being haunted by a youngling of the shadows. I believe you've dealt with situations like these before?" he chuckles, as Jungkook simply nods.

"I've fought my fair share of demons." he says. "if it's a youngling like you said, it won't take long." he promises, while his superior nods.

"I hope so." he tells Jungkook, before patting his wings in encouragement. "I'll give you the details later. Get a picture of the situation, then tell me how much time you need."

"sure thing." Jungkook smiles. "I doubt it'll be that hard."

By now, the child is laying close to you, who's simply still sitting on the mattress while the girl falls asleep with her head on your thigh. He's so immersed into the sight of it that for a moment, he doesn't notice anything else- until he spots your glowing red eyes, fixated on him far away in the trees.

He's been spotted.

Yet again he prepares for a reaction- but there is none. You simply stay throughout the night, until the first birds start to wake up- Only then do you quietly disappear in the form of a black cat, jumping out the window just to vanish into the shadows of the garden nearby.

Something doesn't seem right here, he thinks to himself as he still keeps his eyes looking towards the direction you left in.

And right then and there, he realizes that this task might be more than he thought it would be.

"Now you're just doing it to mock me, aren't you?" Jungkook sighs as he sits down across the demon dressed in all white, a smug grin on his face as he looks at the Angel with faked innocence.

"I don't know what you're talking about, pretty-bird." he jokes, earning rolling eyes from the younger one in front of him. "I also already ordered, if you don't mind." he winks, before a bowl is set in front of him, as if called right on time.

"Of course you did.." Jungkook mumbled to himself, before he sits more comfortably, looking across to get a good look of his 'friend'.

It's a little complicated. While Jungkook wouldn't necessarily call Jimin anything similar to a friend, the demon across definitely makes it very obvious that he thinks their friendship is hilarious. Turned a long time ago, he'd become a demon simply for his life lived as a criminal; bad life choices, as he calls it himself.

Though he's never been one to argue that his turning had been unjustified, something quite common amongst demons. It's why Jungkook gets along with him so well.

"I've got some questions." Jungkook starts, while the demon eats. "There's a youngling roaming around. Female, got attached to a kid. I'm sure you know her." he says, because Jimin seems to know every demon around.

It's Jungkook's excuse to meet up with him every once in a while, after all.

"fuck you, I knew you had some ulterior motive coming down here!" Jimin scolds playfully with his mouth full, making Jungkook roll his eyes a little as he leans back in his chair, arms crossed. "but-" the demon swallows down his bite, licking his lips before he shrugs. "-while I know her, I don't think I can help you much." he admits, making the angel across from him almost pout.

"oh come on, don't do this now." he scoffs. "you demons don't care about loyalty, so don't use that excuse on me." he almost laughs, though he does regret it when Jimin looks at him with a look that clearly speaks about his distaste about those words. Because demons do actually care about loyalty.

A lot.

"It's not about loyalty, pretty-bird." he sighs, putting his chopsticks down before he leans back, bowl empty and stomach full. "it's about the fact that I don't know much at all." he tells him, while Jungkook seems unsure still.

"nothing? I mean, she's a youngling but surely you gotta know something about her." he presses on. "Souls don't just.. Pop out of nowhere." he says, leaning back in his chair again. He needs to know how you got turned into what you are now- not only to find out your weaknesses, but to also maybe make sense on why you've attached yourself to a child of all things.

A tiny and fragile soul, not even remotely enough to feed someone as hungry as a young demon.

"you said you were friends Jimin! And yet you know nothing?" Jungkook tries one last time, but the demon across from him shakes his head.

"I can't know what not even she knows." he says, and it takes a moment until the Angel understands what he's talking about.

"you mean.?" he wonders, and Jimin nods.

"She's got no idea either. All I know is that she was just as confused as you are right now when I found her. Hell, she was terrified- not that I blame her." he mumbles the last part to himself, before looking out the window of the little restaurant they both met in to discuss you.

"so she's empty." Jungkook states more than he asks, well aware that his conclusion is most probably correct.

'Empty' simply means that a demon holds no negative feelings inside- has no reason to have turned at all. No hatred and no trauma or crime that could've made them follow the ways of the shadows instead of letting go like souls typically do.

"Or her memories got locked away." Jimin reminds the angel, who instantly looks at him. "I know it hasn't happened in a while, but Taehyung-"

"Taehyung was a completely different case, Jimin." Jungkook argues, shaking his head. "He simply got lost wandering-"

"He killed his father-" The demon argues, but Jungkook doesn't bend down.

"He protected himself and his sister and paid for his act! His intentions were never dark, he just.." Jungkook bites the inside of his cheek, because he doesn't know how to further justifies the actions of his fellow friend and angel.

"it's okay to admit that he was gray." Jimin calmly states after the Angel seems more calm. "I never understood why you guys try and justify everything so much. Sometimes things just aren't right or wrong, black or white. And you-" he leans forward, tapping the hand of the Angel that's resting on the table. "- should know best, no?" he says, finger tracing a deep but small scar on the back of the Angel's hand-

Who immediately retreats his palm as if burned, chair loudly scraping on the floor as he leaves the restaurant, leaving behind an amused demon, who looks back outside the window before he pays for the meal and walks outside, a black cat rubbing herself on his leg, making him chuckle.

"You're surely making things a lot more interesting down here, little thing." he mumbles more or less to himself as he picks you up into his arms to look after the angel flying away, unseen by the rest of the world walking by, his hand scratching your chin while you purr.

Something is definitely happening.

And he can't wait for the show to begin.
