a little sports rant

one thing i genuinely despise about all sports (and maybe more specifically, sports fanbases and commentary) is how much recency bias informs everything. in tennis, i feel like it's especially rampant -- whether it be carlos, jannik, or coco -- these young, incredibly talented athletes who have already accomplished so much yet are still weighed down by the expectations of their own shadows

this is also why tumblr feels like the only safe and level-headed space I can turn to for tennis or other sports content. everywhere else is rampant with unfair commentary to just bullying the players. it's going to sound really corny and basic but these players are people and they're human, and often times i feel very protective of them because they're all younger than me.

let them be. let them experience their careers naturally.
