You and your roommate might not get along.

Just because you woke up early every day in high school doesn’t mean you will be able to in college.

Conversely, you might just realize you are a morning person in college. 

You should learn to examine your personal biases. Ask yourself why you have a certain opinion.

There are plenty of students who have taken 17, 18, 19 hour course loads and they have been successful; however, it may not be financially feasible. 

Searching for scholarships doesn’t stop when you get to college. Keep looking for them and applying for them. Create a separate email account to receive and correspond to scholarship emails. 

Don’t put off visiting your academic advisor. Mine absolutely saved me when I was going through the lowest point in my life.

Let your mom/dad/parental guardian (if applicable) make your bed on move-in day. 

Get involved, but only if you want to. Student organizations in college are much more time-consuming, so be certain that it is something you really want to do. 

Have fun. You don’t have to go out every single weekend. But go get coffee or study with a friend. Have some sort of interaction with others. 

Getting a job really eased my financial burdens and I made friends, and established references. Having money just feels good. 

Wash your face. Keep make up wipes close to your bed for nights when you are just too tired to go through an elaborate skin care routine. 

Communal showers suck, but we all have to endure them. I promise you will get used to it. But you gotta bathe, friend. 

Be honest with your support system. Many times, those closest to us would help us in a heartbeat, but they never knew we needed help in the first place.

Utilize services your tuition covers. These include, but are not limited to, tutoring, legal services, medical services, etc. 

Sit in the front row. Just do it. Seriously. You will be less inclined to get on your phone/not pay attention to lecture/discussion material if the material is two feet away from you. You can also see better on those days when you forget glasses, or run out of contacts. 

Your MWF life does not know your T/TR life. You can totally hit those clothes with some febreeze and wear them on heavy rotation.

Speaking of clothes, everyone washes clothes on Sundays. It’s a fact.

You really don’t need to bring all of your clothes, expensive jewelry, trophies from that time you did soccer in 2nd grade, etc. to your dorm. Just enough clothes to fit in your drawers/closet for all seasons, and a couple sentimental items to remind you of home.

Save the boxes you use to move into your dorm/apartment. You will need them come move out.

Live and die by the syllabi, but know that professors will change things up randomly. They will also announce things in class that are not on the syllabus at random. 

Do invest in some good plates and Tupperware.

Drink water. 

The freshman 15 is real and it is coming for you. But it’s okay. You’re still awesome. 

Parking in college is universally limited and unforgiving. Be mindful of this. 

Many retailers will have sales on microwaves and mini fridges when fall comes around. Invest in them. 

Storage containers are a must. 

Respect quiet hours. 

If you will be living on campus, and your campus is dry - RESPECT THAT. Seriously, it’s such a dumb mistake to make. I have friends who started out on probation because they decided to drink in their dorms their freshman year. 

Get a power strip. Or three.

There’s no dress code in college. So you can totally wear that crop top. But be mindful that those surrounding you are potential professional connections. A lot of college is networking. 

But, in all honesty, no one really cares what you are wearing. 

You are an adult now, so setting boundaries is necessary.

Don’t stay in that toxic relationship.

Keep in touch with your friends/family from back home. 

Do ask your professors questions in office hours, during class (if able to), or via email. 

Use protection.

Stand up for yourself, what you believe in, and others.

Get the number of at least one person in each class during syllabus week.

Expect to stay the entire 2-4 hours of your lab. 

Be respectful of your roommate’s space. 

Be respectful of other’s differing opinions in Blackboard discussions. 

Be a point whore. Do the extra credit. Do it. 

Remember that college is a new beginning. 

Realize that grades do not define your intelligence.

Realize that sometimes we fail classes, but it does not mean that we are not “smart enough.”

Know that college is not for everyone. 

It’s okay to take a couple semesters off to better yourself. I did, and I am so thankful that I made that decision.

Buy your textbooks and access codes and lab manuals as early as you can. 

Use a planner!!!!!! 

Mental health is just as important as physical health.

Remember that college is not supposed to be the best years of your life. College is meant to set you up for the best years of your life.

Mood, always.

A brotherly wake up call.

There’s a fic on fanfiction(.)net that I’ve kept tabs on for years to see if it’s been updated or not. While I’m no longer even in the fandom it’s written for, it just has one of the greatest storylines I’ve ever read. Last time it was updated was 2011.

The other day, I decided to reread the entire thing and leave a very in-depth review of what I thought of each chapter. I also mentioned how I started reading it when I was 13 and am now 21, but always came back to see if it was ever finished because I loved it so dearly.

Today, said author sent me a private message saying that her analytics showed that the story was still getting views even after all these years, but no one ever bothered to leave reviews other than “update soon!!!”, so she never felt motivated enough to finish it. She said that me reviewing every single chapter with lengthy paragraphs made her cry and meant the world to her. She also mentioned that she felt encouraged to write the two remaining chapters needed to complete the story and that she would send me a message the night before she updates the fic.

I’m literally sobbing. I’m so excited :’)

Please always remember to leave a review when reading fanfiction!!! It means a lot to a writer.

General:

How long will they last? - Forever

How quickly did/will they fall in love? - Took a long while. I headcanon that after the in canon events, Kagome and Inuyasha broke up because of various reasons (I do think the three year time gap would have matured Kagome vs Inuyasha remaining as he was in his half demon stasis) and Kagome very often visited the Feudal Era, remaining friends with everyone. Sesshoumaru would obviously visit Rin at the village and I dunno, so many fanfiction authors have made this pairing believable that I can buy them starting to talk to each other. Sesshoumaru would be at a point in his life were there is no more conquest to be had - Naraku is defeated and there’s no war for him to fight. Kagome would also be floundering, uncertain what to do. I can see them sharing tea together. Kagome would be the one to approach him in all their interactions, but I can see Sesshoumaru being curious about the time period she comes from.

How was their first kiss? - It had been coming for a long while. Classic slow burn had made these two dance around the subject of their strange attraction for awhile, but once Sesshoumaru knows he wants something he’s not likely to hold himself back. Their kiss is more of a confirmation - Sesshoumaru grabs her chin and kisses her. He then releases her and steps away. The kiss is to state his feelings without words, since he’s a very taciturn demon. Kagome would be a confused blushing mess.

Wedding:

Who proposed? - Sesshoumaru

Who is the best man/men? - You know, we don’t have proof that he doesn’t have some sort of friendly relationship with someone in his lands, maybe a war general? If not then no one.

Who is the braid’s maid(s)? - RIN. She would hold a basket and skip as she threw flowers everywhere.

Who did the most planning? - Both

Who stressed the most? - Kagome

How fancy was the ceremony? - Back of a pickup truck | 2 | 3 | 4 | Normal Church Wedding | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Kate and William wish they were this big. - They don’t need it to be overly flashy, both are fine with traditional with a bit of a personal touch. 

Who was specifically not invited to the wedding? - No one I can think of

Sex:

Who is on top? - Sesshoumaru a lot of the time, though Kagome certainly does top sometimes. At times have a power struggle, where her reiki and his youki will clash, so that usually determines who will top.

Who is the one to instigate things? - Both. Kagome isn’t a saint and can be quite devious if she feels frisky. 

How healthy is their sex life? - Barely touch themselves let alone each other | 2 | 3 | 4 | Once a couple weeks, nothing overboard | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | They are humping each other on the couch right now

How kinky are they? - Straight missionary with the lights off | 2 | 3 | 4 | Might try some butt stuff and toys | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Don’t go into the sex dungeon without a horse’s head

How long do they normally last? - Good amount of time. If it’s an especially sensual or romantic night then they’ll spend a lot of time just appreciating each other’s bodies, battle scars and exploring each other. If it’s a rougher or more passion filled one then they’d last a lesser amount of time. 

Do they make sure each person gets an equal amount of orgasms? - Yes

How rough are they in bed? - Softer than a butterfly on the back of a bunny | 2 | 3 | 4 | The bed’s shaking and squeaking every time | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Their dirty talk is so vulgar it’d make Dwayne Johnson blush. Also, the wall’s so weak it could collapse the next time they do it.

Who is the stricter parent? - Kagome tends to nag at them more if it’s for every-day things, but in terms of important stuff, then they know not to cross Sesshoumaru when he steps in. He does make sure they have a sense of duty and pride in their heritage though.

Who stops the kid(s) from doing dangerous stunts after school? - Kagome

Who remembers to pack the lunch(es)? - Kagome (treating this as if they’ve lived to the modern era now, considering Demon life-spans)

Who is the more loved parent? - Both are loved for different reasons. Kagome is a nurturing presence while Sesshoumaru is a stable source of advice and practicality. He’s a little aloof, but like Rin, they just see that as a part of his personality.

Who is more likely to attend the PTA meetings? - Both

Who cried the most at graduation? - Kagome

Who is more likely to bail the child(ren) out of trouble with the law? - Sesshoumaru. But don’t think he’s not annoyed.

Cooking:

Who does the most cooking? - Kagome

Who is the most picky in their food choice? - Sesshoumaru. He doesn’t really complain - he’ll just sneer at whatever food it is that has offended him.

Who does the grocery shopping? - Kagome, though he would accompany her

How often do they bake desserts? - Sesshoumaru isn’t one for sweets so Kagome would bake for other people and share it with them. Especially if they had kids.

Are they more of a meat lover or a salad eater? - Meat

Who is more likely to surprise the other(s) with an anniversary dinner? - Kagome. If they were living in Feudal Japan, then Sesshoumaru would catch a kill for servants to cook. If in the Modern Era, then he’d take her out to a restaurant.

Who is more likely to suggest going out? - Both, they like the outdoors

Who is more likely to burn the house down accidently while cooking? - Sesshoumaru - by releasing poison from his claws when something displeases him enough.

Chores:

Who cleans the room? - Kagome

Who is really against chores? - Sesshoumaru, he’d bully Jaken into doing it.

Who cleans up after the pets? - Don’tmakeajokeaboutSesshoumarubeingherpet no noooo ahem. They would not have pets.

Who is more likely to sweep everything under the rug? - Sesshoumaru, but instead of sweeping dirt, it’s melting it. 

Who stresses the most when guests are coming over? - Kagome

Who found a dollar between the couch cushions while cleaning? - Kagome, she’d then ask Sesshoumaru if it was his, much to his amusement.

Misc:

Who takes the longer showers/baths? - Kagome. She loves baths. Sesshoumaru would join her.

Who takes the dog out for a walk? - Sometimes she’d go for a ride on his back in his dog demon form. 

How often do they decorate the room/house for the holidays? - Kagome insists on it. Fight her. Sesshoumaru let’s her do as she pleases, while squinting at a few of her strange traditions and asking about them.

What are their goals for the relationship? - To face adversity together and grow and learn from one another.

Who is most likely to sleep till noon? - Kagome. Sesshoumaru won’t allow it.

Who plays the most pranks? - Kagome, which she then get’s punished for, though her nature does bring out his devious side, so he often repays her.
