Headcanon about Chief Fire Officer Boyce from Fireman Sam

Chief Fire Officer Horatio Boyce was born and raised in Newtown, Wales, UK in somewhere between early or mid 1940's.

He and his colleague, Station Officer Norris Basil Steele, both trained together at the same Fire Academy, after which they both together started work at the Pontypandy Fire Service.

Boyce later got transferred to Newtown Fire Station, where he climbed up the ladder and eventually became Chief Fire Officer.

He visited Pontypandy after a very long time during The Great Fire of Pontypandy, when he came to present Sam with the Medal of Outstanding Bravery. During his visit he also offered Sam a promotion as Station Officer of the New Rapid Response Fire Unit in Newtown, which was eventually declined by Sam.

He stood in for Station Officer Steele, as a relief when he injured his back.

He has also often been sent by HQ to conduct drills and assessments for the Pontypandy Fire Station. He tested Elvis' driving for his Advanced Driving Certificate, and he also tests the team's abilities in multiple rescue scenarios and demonstrates how to perform certain rescues.

In Set For Action!, under controversial circumstances, he had no choice but to dismiss Sam from the brigade for failing a simple safety check, but he reinstated him after evidence was given by Sam's nephew James that the safety check was foiled by Flex Dexter.

A Poor Little Pat is Ill

In 1989, when Pat was about 10 years old, he studies in a school in the village of Greendale. He watched the teacher taught mathematics to her students. She wrote "10 + 10 =" on a blackboard before she asked the question to them. He raised his hand to her as he would answer the question. He wrote number 20 on a blackboard next to "10 + 10 =". So the teacher had finally agreed an answer from Pat and she lets him to get back to his seat.

After school, he got a bad cold and he wanted to tell his parents he fell ill. So, they took him to the hospital to see if he's got a cold.

At the hospital, the doctor had examined Pat if he would give him a check up for his cold. He took out his stethoscope and use it to listen to his heart and lungs. Pat coughs a little painfully. The doctor heard him coughing as he ever found out he had something worse about him. After the check-up, the doctor told Pat's parents he had pneumonia. They both were shocked when they found out he had it. The doctor would suggest that Pat will stay in bed at home until he got better.

After the doctor's appointment in the hospital, Pat was in his pyjamas and lies down on his bed as his parents were taking his meal and cup of water upstairs for him to eat and drink. He tucks himself in the blanket so he can kept warm from the cold and laid his head on a pillow. He has resting his eyes as he would sleep peacefully.

In the next morning, while his parents are away to work, his three older siblings would take over to take care of him. They're bringing him his bowl of cereal on a tray upstairs to his room.

One night, Pat coughs loudly in his room. His parents went to his room as they took him with them back to the hospital.

After they arrived in the hospital, the Cliftons were going to the emergency room to see a doctor. Pat was lying on a hospital bed with his parents are by his side. The doctor came to see them as he wants to tell them that Pat's pneumonia became a little worse and is unable to go to school. So, he suggests him to stay here for a few days until the other doctors have decided to do an operation.

A few days later, the doctors are about to do an operation on Pat in a surgery room to get rid of his pneumonia. While Pat's in the surgery room, his family are in the waiting room, sitting on chairs and sofas as they're all waiting for him to get better from his pneumonia.

After a successful surgery, the doctor informs Pat's family and said he has finally got recovered and better from a pneumonia. He also says that he was hooked to an oxygen mask, machine and IVs and he needs to stay here for a week.

A week later, Pat got discharged from the hospital in full recovery. While his older siblings were at school, his parents took him home as they decided to look after him until he got back to school.

Two weeks later, Pat got back to school long after he's battling pneumonia while he was sick. His friends and teachers are all so glad and happy that he got better.

Headcanon about Pat Clifton's father (Part 3)

Since after his youngest son Pat's accident, Mr. Clifton and his family went to the hospital to see him about his condition.

He has been told by the doctors that Pat's legs are no longer working and he was bounded in a wheelchair, which it made him use it so if he still continues his job as a postman.

At the hospital, Pat's parents often visit him and his family for every weekday during seasons, especially Christmas. They brought get well soon gift baskets to him. Apparently, Pat's older siblings and their own families are all also paying him a visit.

A few days later, Pat is finally discharged in a wheelchair. His father often pushed him and his mother, wife and son are bringing his things for him.

A month later, Pat returns to his job as a postman, delivering the posts and parcels in a wheelchair.
