thinking about mettaton and undyne having a fierce rivalry but putting up with each other for alphys. forced smiles and passive-aggresive politeness. then alphys leaves the room and they are at each other's throats in an instant. alphys comes back and oh they're hugging how nice!! they are most precious friends, always have been!!

i love that idea and it’s very funny to imagine them mlm wlw hostility. but though undyne clearly dislikes mettaton i honestly can not see any reason why mettaton would have negative feelings towards undyne. she makes his best friend happy and is nice to his cousin so he has no problems with her. so then we have a scenario where mettaton is hilariously unfazed by any jabs from undyne . but no the double sided rivalry is just as good
