Going back to the canon that we care about (or were forced to sit through, at any rate), I have NS quiestioinis. What does it take for Sakura to stop feeling like a third wheel (given the context of that snow scene we don't necessarily love and then how she got KO'd at the end...)? And what does it take for her to convince Naruto that she's for real? That we can have nice things :')

To answer your first question? Do you want the meta answer or the in-story answer? Cos they're both different and the same but Imma be snarkier in one of them lol.

What would it take for Sakura to stop feeling like a third wheel?

Better fucking writing. Better utilisation of the main female character and less Kishi choking on Sasuke and the Uchiha's collective dick.

It's a recurring problem in the series from my perspective, too much focus on one character to the extreme detriment of the entire cast. Even Naruto's story suffers for it.

If less time had been spent on the truly convoluted story of the Uchiha we could have spent more time with the rest of the characters and given them more time to shine.

Sakura, in text, is the successor to Tsunade, she is certifiably a badass. She IS the equal to the boys and I will fight you right now if you don't think she could beat Sasuke 'I've never won a fight without caveats' Uchiha in a fight if she went all out.

The fact she is relegated to somehow not being their equal is bad writing at best and blatant sexism at worst. And yes, I will always be angry about it.

Now in the context of actual story?

Show her fighting alongside Naruto more and keeping pace. She could, we know she could. I would have put more scenes in where Naruto and Sakura fought as a team, trained as a team, worked as a team. Have them talk about things more like actual friends do.

Really cement that bond you know?

While I would still have the final fight between Naruto and Sasuke, because goddamn it if it isn't thematically necessary, I would have shown Sakura fighting like hell to catch up with them.

This would not be a Sakura who would stand back and let them have their pissing contest without trying to intervene. We saw that would be her approach in their Genin days after all.

And for your second and more lovely answer having question?

What does it take for her to convince Naruto she's for real?

Well in my works typically? A screamed confession, a hell of a kiss and then just hours of sex lol.

But I think the first one is the key part there. Sakura coming up to him all shy and bashful was very out of character, this is not a woman who is known for being demure, and we love her for it lol.

There should be screaming, tears, pleas for his stupid arse to fucking listen and 'oh my god why aren't you kissing me yet?!'s lol.

Girl is dramatic and it would be that which would make the dumbass that is Naruto Uzumaki to take her seriously lol.

Cos it'd be in character of her tsundere arse lol.

screaming crying and throwing up bc there's not a single ship out there that makes me feel this typa pain like clerith. i ship cloud w someone else actually (sail the cosmos with the planet as my vessel) but holy fuck clerith has got me sobbing into my fucking pillow at ass o'clock in the morning.

it takes cloud one goddamn day of knowing aerith to fold & start to change his opinions on the planet and how he looks at the world. (cloud "you really believe that" strife suddenly starts looking to the flowers for advice with aerith)

he plays off every interaction like it's just a job he has to get through, but every time she speaks he listens so attentively because he's interested in what she has to say. wants to know her life, her experiences, what makes her, her. he doesn't know how to act around someone as open and honest as aerith. it's uncomfortable being seen, but aerith is unapologetically herself and for the most part, doesn't hesitate in showing him who she is. cloud starts trying.

those little micro expressions start opening up bit by bit, he can never seem to fool her anyway. he fails a little, keeps trying again, gets it right. gets it really right, and she's smiling underneath their double high five. cloud looks at her like she's hung up the sun, the moon, and all the stars in the sky. looks at her like he's just in complete awe that someone as beautiful as her— both inside and out— exists. don't lie to me and say he's had that expression on his face with anyone else in this game (yes i'm talking about wall market. cloud's fr got hearts in his eyes).

"i'm coming for you" because this is about him and her. there's no "we're", just " i'm", like he's forgotten to hide his feelings behind others, and either doesn't care or doesn't notice how much aerith has influenced him already. he wants her to know that it's him, he's the one who is coming for her. and the way cloud says it, so absolutely and fixed, like he's made up his mind and there's nothing she can do to change it. aerith's made her stance about their relationship but so has he. cloud, who has always been so awkward and distant with his feelings, has suddenly become vocal. "do i get a say in all this?" "that's very one-sided".

he'll always fight for her. in the past, present, and future he'll always be fighting for her. it's obvious that's where the other two games are going, and christ, knowing he really will never stop, go through hell and back, defy destiny if it means he can keep her here.

that's some true love, soulmates, star-crossed lovers shit.

no one can convince me that they're not in love. romantic, platonic, somewhere in the middle, idc but those two are in love.

and then there's me who is in love with their love 😭💔 i don't have the strength to watch it a third time, but the gmv cloud x aerith: you make me better is a must watch.
