i like to think that all mers and other humanoid aquatic kin and therians are like my distant relatives. i am just the more... inland variant. and with potentially more legs.

Just a little personal post and a bit of an update on my selfhood

Ya’ll know that I am a red eared slider and green sea turtle but I just awakened as a western tortoise as well.

I knew I was drawn to more dry flat areas for a long time but I didn’t consider it having anything to do with being alterhuman until I did some research on tortoises and realized some of my unexplained instincts that I threw into the turtle category, were actually more similar to tortoise behavior.

I grew up in the lone nature parts of Texas. The land I feel safe in is the ideal habitat for tons of little critters. I just thought I felt at home in the prairies because I grew up there, not because of any nonhuman reason.

I am a spiritual turtle otherkin, but this feels different…

I’m certain this identity is leaning more on the psychological side. I really feel like I imprinted on the land when I was a hatchling. Even before I knew what otherkin was, I felt like I was some kind of reptile, and the environment pushed that. The world around me didn’t “turn me alterhuman” but it definitely affected something that was already there.

I feel so drawn to therians that share the same habitat as me

Creatures from north and east Asia tigers, racoon dogs, Snow leopards, cranes, monkeys, pandas, elephants, koi, etc

Or creatures from the western prairies hares, mustangs, rattlesnakes, buffalo, armadillos, prairie dogs, hawks, coyotes, mountain lions, etc
