#personal
hello there.
i'm hall. i exist. i'm an irredeemably busy aspiring writer and spectacular mess who seeks to make an impact on people through fiction. my search history will land me on death row one day.
books saved my life, so im repaying the favor by sharing the worlds in my head in hopes that someone out there will enjoy them.
about this blog.
#my posts
i'm semi-active, and when i'm around, i typically post snippets of my works, reblog things that tickled my brain, and hold myself accountable writing-wise. i do my best to exclusively post/reblog things related to my writing or others' writing.
i'm always on the hunt for mutuals, particularly those who:
write fantasy, slice-of-life, and/or romance
adore the found family trope and platonic + familial dynamics
write (esp morally) complex characters
avidly world-build
excessively research
have a search history that is reason why they're on a watchlist
alpha/beta for fun (we can alpha/beta swap!)
offer constructive criticism + feedback! (i can do the same :3)
i am tag/ask game friendly, and open to all forms of interaction, though you might be left unanswered for 3 months (and then subsequently throttled with key-smashing when i come back)
tag me in everything i want to see ur shits uwu
about my writing.

i fanatically drown in fantasy and slice-of-life. when i'm bored, i'll cook up some magical realism and romance. sometimes, after my nth midlife crisis, i'll try out psychological horror, alternate history, and sci-fi. and when i'm in the mood, i'll sporadically dabble in quite literally everything else.
my tastes are eclectic. my life is eclectic. i am eclectic. this all reflects onto my writing.
my children projects can be summarized in 3 Hs: hilarious, horny, and hopeless. essentially: my works are cocktails of anarchical bullshit, chaotic characters, fantastic sexual tension, and terrible comedy—and every situation ends in disaster.
i adore all forms of relationships—romantic, platonic, and familial—and tropes like found family, complicated parental relationships, complicated sibling dynamics, and opposites attract.
my projects.

this really has officially turned into an outline in 24 hr challenge 🥹 and I think I’ve been staring at this plot line for the last 2 hrs
24hr novel challenge
going to try and write a novel in 24 hrs (which we know I won't, since I didn't even finish this goddamn outline but it's more like watch as I try to finish this OUTLINE in 24 hrs so I can finally write my book in time for nano)
and who knows, maybe if I finish plotting like I said I would the last 7 months I'll try the 24 hr novel attempt all over again.
anyways, for anyone interested, the details are here
i just want this to be my thread of sanity haha
also if anything is wondering here's an awful and quick put together summary of what i'm working on (aka my historical fantasy set in korea during the joseon era) where a disease goes around where people are suddenly clawing their hearts out and bari disguises herself as her brother in order to become one of the king's personal guards and bring a cure to her dying father
if anyone also attempts this, let me know how it goes!
ways to start writing more efficiently
stop writing with the word count on!
use a font like comic sans -- trick your brain into thinking that it's not important, that the writing can be stupid, if it's in a stupid font (if you can't tell i despise comic sans)
time yourself to get to a goal
or give yourself a certain amount of time
quantity >> quality in the first draft(s)!
jot down what you want to happen in that chapter
try organizing your writing (nanowrimo, for example)
do *not* reread! it doesn't need to make sense, it just needs to be there
try not to stick yourself to something you saw on tumblr. what works for someone else doesn't necessarily work for you!
take breaks. time those breaks.
practice writing short stories / oneshots of your characters.
try getting all your writing done within a certain goal (as much as I can for 30 minutes) rather than writing 5 minutes on or off
write down every little wormy idea that comes into your brain! sure, it's probably for a different plot, but maybe you can work it in somehow?
on that note, mash elements of your plots together rather than starting a whole new story
see maybe what little writing competitions you can submit your work to
proclaim your goal to the wide web for some peer pressure
rewards yourself. cheer on every thousand-word milestone. brag to your friends that you've written something, anything.
don't think of the big goal—don't think of publishing, or posting, etc. think of the end of your chapter, the development of your character, where it goes.
switch your writing environment! where are you most productive?
make a playlist only for when you write. never for anything else.
getting off tumblr, probably.
have people remind you of your goals.
remember that it all comes with discipline, but also your mental health is the most important!! don't sacrifice half your sleep to meet your nanowrimo goals. try to recognize when it's taking you too long and close the document. do something else. come back later.
take care of yourself. <3 use this post as a breather (or reminder to start!)
