The first time Sirius looked at Remus and realized he was staring into the honeyed eyes of the boy he loved, stars exploded in his irises, a rosy flush creeping over his nose as the breath slowly seeped from his lungs. All too aware that things would never be the same, Remus suddenly overwhelmed Sirius, a permanent tattoo on his brain that demanded attention.

Thinking about anything other than Remus felt like a waste of time; why bother reading about potions or planning childish pranks when he could be imagining the curve of Remus’ lips when he smiled, the way his lyrical laugh echoed in Sirius’ ears like an endless record, the feel of their legs intertwined underneath the sheets.

Sirius didn’t see any reason to plan his life after Hogwarts when his future was sitting right in front of him, all long lines and tawny hair glowing golden in the daylight.
