Modern marketing and algorithm content recommenders train you to NOT make choices. To just follow the algorithm.

And... it is not healthy. We have studies saying it is not healthy...

Stuff kids on tumblr better relearn

1. You are responsible for your own media experience.

2. There is such a thing as a healthy level of avoidance towards topics that make you feel unwell or even (in a real-life clinical definition of the term) trigger you - but you are the one to actively take care of what you view.

3. Avoiding does not mean policing others.

4. You have no right to tell artists to censor themselves - you may criticize what others do, you may dislike it, that’s fine - but actively asking for censorship when you could easily unfollow or block a person just makes you look incompetent in your use of the internet.

5. Do not give people on tumblr or /any/ website the responsibility for your emotional well-being. Because these people do not even know you so no, you have no right to ask them to take care of you.

It is all very very mysterious why we would want that.

It is completely random that it started happening a few years after both major parties found a loophole in the the law that allows them to take bribes.

I guess we will never know

First of all. That is EXCELLENT!

Second! Even cooler! One of the best colors to wear to hide in the dark is... Red.

Bright colorful red!

Why? Because red is the lowest energy color humans can see! It is the wavelength with slowest frequency!

It is... the color that disappears first when the light fades and dark takes over.

I'm a little more than halfway through reading Terry Pratchett's Night Watch (yes I know, it's taken me a while, hush) and my dad, who introduced me to them when I was in high school, told me this was the first Discworld book he'd ever read. That made me feel all sentimental anyway, but this evening I realized this book has been part of my life far longer than I'd realized.

Young Havelock Vetinari, student at the Assassin's Guild school, has been researching different forms of camouflage found in the animal world, and thus is breaking Assassin tradition of wearing all black. It's stylish, but it's pointed out several times in this book that black silhouettes still stand out in the shadows. So he's taken to wearing grey and dark green, muddy colours. And reading that, I was overtaken by the memory of my dad, years ago, when I was just little, explaining to me that if you want to blend into the night, don't wear black, because the night isn't black, it's dark blues and greens and greys, and black will still stand out. I don't remember why he was giving me this Assassin instruction, but it stuck with me forever. And now, here I am, finding the man who taught my dad all those years ago. I love these books so much, they're such an intrinsic part of my heart, sometimes in ways I don't even realize yet!

I said the same thing about companies wanting my gender when I applied to a job.

To my case worker in the unemployment benefit part of the municipality before I found my current job.

She then told me that it was to allow firms gender discriminate, which she thought was perfectly fine...

I... have rarely been that gobsmacket...

I sometimes feel very tired and alone...

I am right now requesting copies of the permits for a concert I do vulenteer work for because they had us working with polluted dirt ( lead, mercury and cyanid... yum ) and gave the wrong equipment and info to the workers...

I am also pushing my workplace to have a checklist for setting up test hardware installations that can KILL YOU instead of relying on random people around sorta remembering how to do it safely hopefully

And I keep thinking "why me. Why is it always me who have to kick and push for basic kindergarten safety while surrounded by people who have just been accepting this shit for years"

And then I quote Tiffany Aching from the Terry Pratchett books and get on with it

"All witches are selfish, the Queen had said. But Tiffany’s Third Thoughts said: Then turn selfishness into a weapon! Make all things yours! Make other lives and dreams and hopes yours! Protect them! Save them! Bring them into the sheepfold! Walk the gale for them! Keep away the wolf! My dreams! My brother! My family! My land! My world! How dare you try to take these things, because they are mine!

Ooooooh! Great!

Since the whole thing with NaNoWriMo has gone down, I've noticed that one of their former sponsors, Ellipsus, has cut contact with NaNoWriMo because they do not support their stance on AI; I didn't know what Ellipsus was, but upon further research I've found that they are a writing platform that works a lot like Google Docs and Microsoft Word, only with a heavier leaning on the story-writing aspect and connecting with other writers - and they also completely denounce any use of AI, both in the writing process itself and in the use of their platform. I really appreciate that.

Since this is the case (and since I've noticed Google has begun implementing more AI into their software), I've decided to give Ellipsus a try to see if it's a good alternative to Google Docs (my main writing platform). It's completely free and so far, I've found it simple to use (although it is pretty minimal in its features), and I really like the look of it.

I figured I'd spread the word about this platform in case any of you writers would want to give it a try, and if you do, let me know how you like it!
