here's my "fucked up if true" hong lu theory:

hong lu is an ai/test tube baby

literally this is barely supported at all but theres plenty of wild things we havent been able to tell abt the sinners on first glance and i think it'd be cool

i mainly came about this theory because the basic summary i read of dream of a red chamber was "a sentient rock asks a preist and a monk to show it the world" and i thought "wouldnt it be fucked up if that were hong lu."

also like. listen to me here. hong lu's family would absolutely be the type to get a "designer baby"/make an ai to be the "perfect child" okay.

also this peice of dialogue where hong lu mentions that all of his siblings were just trying to backstab eachother

kind of makes me think of those methods of raising ai where you make a shit ton of the ai and then have all of them compete for something, with only a select amount being able to "live on" or "reproduce"

idk man really i just think it'd be cool
