I care so deeply about these two and their story

i usually don't yap on here but god !!! i love charthur !!!

there is something so essential and personal about their dynamic to me. they are such a comforting ship. i think about them and it brings me home.

but hardly in the realm of rdr2— though the quiet affection they share in-game is beautiful in itself— upon first impression, i was just incredibly moved by the fanwork.

i did not understand romance growing up. i felt deep connections and i felt love and i could recognize it in the people around me. i didn't get the depth of those relationships until i had picked up fanfiction. which is really kind of lame, but it felt innovative at the time.

i discovered charthur and found it served on a gold platter of emotional intimacy i'd never gotten a hold of before. an understanding of each other so profound but so innate that it becomes contented and simple— romantic or not, in most interpretations i had read, they were soulmates. i felt understood by the candor of their relationship as well as the grief and condolence between them. in nearly every portrayal and every universe, i could see that potential of connection within myself.

along with it, pitifully enough, i gained a rekindled love for literature. seeing so much emotion transcribed brought the revelation that my heart could hurt as much as it could feel love through just words.

i'm so normal and unaffected when it comes to them. keep spreading love ao3 authors. y'all saved me sm time love u guys
