Hello I also work in a grocery store and I agree. I used to work in the salad bar making salads and parfaits or other fruit or vegetable based things like trays, and I asked our store owner of we were allowed to eat the items we were throwing out. Was told we have to pay for it, even tho it was going into the trash. The sheer greed from an essential service is revolting and I think needs a serious overhaul. Grocery stores only donate if you buy it, and all monetary donations are for tax cut purposes. They don't give a single fuck at all

Grocery stores price gouging is one of the most deplorable things, cuz it's a necessity to live and people literally don't have a fucking choice. esp those who can only go to one, or a few, grocery stores due to transportation challenges or other factors (food deserts etc)
