Today was just not your day.

Sure - your morning had been as ‘normal’ as any. Waking up to Harry kissing you awake made it extremely hard for you to leave the bed, having your breakfast and morning coffee together before you carpooled to the office. 

The discreet kiss the two of you shared was the last good thing that happened to you all day. Some anxious agent spilled his scalding coffee on you, staining your suit and burning your hands. Your hand had slipped while doing your dishes at lunch and you slit your thumb open on an extraordinarily sharp knife. Your laptop crashed in the middle of an overseas conference call, and your fellow agents waited until the end of the meeting to point out that you had lipstick all over your teeth.

As much as it pained you, you texted Harry to let him know that you’d most likely be working late and to head home without you. His favorite part of the day was coming home with you and kicking off his shoes, cuddled up on the couch while you caught up with the love of your life. You would just have to make it up to him some other time.

You spent the whole ride home thinking of ways to spend what was left of your evening together. It was already quarter past eight o’clock when you arrived home, about to toe off your heels when you noticed something on the floor.

Dozens of rose petals scattered through the foyer and leading up the stairs to the master suite. The overwhelming feeling of being loved pushed aside your fatigue, gathering a hand full of petals and inhaling deeply. 

Mounting the stairs with gathering excitement, you followed the trail of petals through the open door of the bathroom to be met by an amazing sight. Your favorite candles were scattered across the room, rose petals floating in the bath of steaming hot water. And your favorite man was perched on the edge of the tub, a bottle of wine and glasses in his hands and a single red rose between his teeth.

“Marry me, Harry Hart,” you sighed dreamily. Big brown eyes crinkled from the laugh he was holding in, offering you the bottle of wine which you gladly accepted. Wrapping your arms around his neck, you waited until his mouth was available to kiss Harry deeply. “We’ve talked about this, young lady. I’m supposed to ask you,” he scolded. “But for now, take a bath with me? You need to relax.” He gestures to set the wine and glasses down, giving you one more kiss before he moves to pour you a glass. 

“Ouch!” Harry hissed suddenly, abandoning your task of stripping to check on him. He had the pad of his thumb in his mouth, brow creased in annoyance. “The next time we do this darling? Remind me to remove the thorns.”

Youalways watched Merlin shave in the morning, it was almost a routinein and of itself. He was so meticulous with it but he made it look soeffortless. It was a straight razor that he used because he loved howclose of a shave it gave him but that blade looked absolutelyfrightening. He didn’t know how long you’d been standing therewatching him but when he noticed, he laughed, “Something on myface?” he asked as he shaved a small portion of his neck.

Hewas busy cleaning the blade off in the sink when you asked, “Can Itry and shave you?”

Ofcourse, his eyes widened and he turned to get a look at you. Thereyou were, hands clasped together with a wide smile on your face. Hewanted to say no but he sighed and gave in, “You know, you’relucky you’re cute.”

He sat at the edge of the tub you both shared andyou knelt in between his legs, attempting not to shake. He made it back late – you’d stayed up on the couch, tuning into late-night comedy shows and enjoying the feeling of being wrapped in one of Arch’s old dress shirts and comfy socks. At the sound of the front door’s lock jingling with keys, your heart leaps into your throat.

You pull yourself up and quickly pad over to the door, eyes wide as Archie stagger in out of the rain. You grin and feel your cheeks heat up.

“You’re back!”

His head snaps up, eyes bright as you run down the corridor and hop into his arms. He catches you, swinging you up into his arms. You hug his neck, kissing his cheeks and not caring if he’s soaked from the rain. His hands are cold as they wrap your legs around his waist. They brush along the skin of your thigh and you shiver.

“I missed y’,” he mumbles against a slow kiss. 

Climbing down from his arms, you help him with his jacket and hang it while he kicks off his shoes. You’re met with hands on your waist, skimming up the fabric of the dress shirt. “Nice shirt.”

“Thanks, it’s not mine,” you chide. A wandering hand moves to cup your breast under the shirt and you bite your lip as Arch’s mouth dips to the juncture between your shoulder and neck.
