You stood by the terrace and watched the city of mondstat slowly fall asleep. The night silenced as drunkards alongside workers from taverns around the city went home. You watched as people closed their curtains and switched off their lights, locking their doors to hide from the dangers that come with the uncertainty of the night.
You loved the night time but never on nights like this. Nights so quiet they allowed you to think. Even the wind seemed to have retired but your mind couldnt do the same. Your mind burned bright like the sun against the dim of the night. It burned. It burned. It hurt, because as it burned brightly it only illuminated everything to do with him. Diluc and you running together through the grape fields at the winery. Diluc comforting you after your first inevitable heartbreak (its a pity he was of no help to you for your current one). Diluc intriducing you to Jean to Diluc inviting you to his marriage ceremony with Jean. Now you’re burning with love and despair . With a love so strong and passionate it scorched your heart with an eternal despair.
You clenched your knuckles, the pain from your nails digging into your skin was like a bucket of cold water on your burning heart. With a sigh you decided now was the time to leave. Not only leave this terrace but mondstat too.
You turned to leave while thinking of how you would be leaving him behind too. But did it matter? You didn't have time to think about that- not when all your thoughts dissipated at the sight of Diluc Ragnvindr standing before you with a single cecilia in his gloved hand. For a man who rarely smiled he wore a gentle smile like he was born with it. Like it was his destiny to smile at you in such a way that made your heart beat faster than the wind current that began to pick up.
“Arent you supposed to be preparing for your wedding with Jean? The ceremony is in two days.” You tried your best too seem unphased by his presence. The same presence that shook your very existence. The question seemed to disappoint him as his expression fell. He then furrowed his eyebrows as if failing to understand something.
“You dont know do you?” His first words to you in weeks. As underwhelming as his words were, you couldnt help the flutter of your heart at the sound of his voice.
“Know what?” You asked after finally navigating a little bit of sense. He walked toward you with purpose in his step which intimidated you, causing you to step back into the rail of the terrace. “Diluc-“
“How could you not see how hopelessly in love I am with you?” He said, his voice seemed as fragile as a gentle breeze on a cloudless day.
“What are you-“
“The flowers, the secret glances, my countless excuses to see you.” He listed while simultaneously leaning in to you, his hands had encircled yours and the flower was trapped between your palms.
“Those were all my failed attempts at trying to express my ever growing affections toward you.”
What.

every few years I just like to remind people of this Yugioh fancast in an early 2000s magazine
