My Room Has A Giant Mushroom Table In It (the Mushroom Is Meant To Be The Fly Agaric Amanita Muscaria

My room has a giant mushroom table in it (the mushroom is meant to be the fly agaric Amanita muscaria mushroom) that is filled with mushroom identification and mycology books. The table looks weird because I made it myself in grade nine woodworking class (which was a way better elective than jewlery making anyways 😠) and I walked home from school carrying it on my shoulder.

I have four mushroom identification books, two books about mycology, a third that is specifically about the wood wide web (the relationship between mushrooms and trees) and two waterproof mushroom identification brochures. In case anyone doubted that I’m a giant nerd.

Guys I need advice help 😭

I need to confront someone and set clear boundaries, but I am also I giant pushover and this person knows it lol. They’re my friend so I don’t want to just stop talking to them, but they’ve been making me uncomfortable and don’t really listen to me. The first time I tried to tell them to stop I wasn’t firm about it at all and they just brushed it off and didn’t change their behaviour. I’m scared of ruining our friendship by making things awkward, and I’m worried my other friends in that friend group will think I’m being dramatic and not want to hang out with me anymore. How do I stand up for myself without people thinking I’m annoying???

Oh ho ho this is a wonderful question!

So things in the fungi family that aren’t mushrooms are molds, yeasts, rusts, mildews and… smuts. Ignore that last one. They’re basically just corn parasites, and someone saw one and decided to call it a smut.

I’m gonna be real, I probably like yeast the most. Because I can use it to make tasty cinnamon buns! As ashamed as I am to admit it, I don’t know very much about fungi that don’t have fruiting bodies that could be considered mushrooms. My greatest shortcoming.

There are some fungal adjacent organisms I love and know about though, like mycoheterotrophs, fungus-like protists and lichen!
