Bakugou: *smirk* Warned ya. GRROAAAR!!! *PFFFBBTTHHH*

Kirishima: WHAAA-HAHAHAHA K-KYAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! KAHAHAHAHATS! OHMYGOSH NAAAHAHAHAHAHA!

Bakugou: *muttering with lips against Kiri’s tummy* Didn’t you know that you should never take your eyes off your opponent, you mighty hunter? *PFFFBBTTHHH*

Kirishima: OHNOOOHOHOHOHO! PLEHEHEHEHEHEASE! YOUR HAHAHAHAIR TIHIHIHIHICKLES TOO MAA-HAHAHAHAHA!

Bakugou: *chuckles* This time, I WILL FEAST ON MY PREY! And trust me, I’m gonna fully enjoy it❤️ *PFFFBBTTHHH*

The Kamas

“Hey Captain?” Captain Rex is sitting at his desk in his blacks going over battle plans. It’s late in the sleep cycle and most of the troops are already turned in. He looks up to see one of his newest additions to the 501st wearing his kamas around his neck….like a cape? “What are you doing Fives?” “I’m Super Fives!” The trooper says with his hands on his hips and looking toward the horizon. A smile comes to the captain’s lips. “Is that so?” “Yessir! I’m invincible!” “Not if you don’t pay attention!” Another young voice booms from the doorway. Before Fives can turn around his batch mate tackles him to the ground. They wrestle for a bit and in the end, it’s Echo that runs away with the kamas. “ I am Super Echo!” “Give those back! I had them first!” Fives yells at him. They chase each each other around the Captain’s quarters before Rex stands and they come to a halt. “Boys. Someday you may have your own kamas to play with. But you have to earn them. Until then, these are my kamas. You boys need to get some sleep. We have a battle coming up. Clear?” “Yessir!” Fives and Echo say in unison. They give a salute and head off to the bunks. A fond smile shines across the Captain’s face as he shakes his head. “Rookies.”

The ship lands in the hangar with most of the 501st present to welcome back their newest ARC Troopers from Kamino. The captain definitely missed his boys. The other troopers missed them as well, but they did not miss the daily pranks that were pulled by the Domino Twins. As the ramp comes down the troops can see Fives and Echo with their hands on their hips, their heads held high and their kamas….around their necks? “What the….” Says Jesse to Kix with a puzzled look on his face. Hardcase is cackling bent over and Captain Rex puts his hand over his face. “We’re back!!!” Fives yells to his fellow troopers. “And we’re not just ARCs…” ”We’re Super ARC’s!” Says Echo as he and his twin go running down the ramp to the cheering legion. Captain Rex just shakes his head and smiles. He definitely missed his boys.

………….

“Captain!” Rex turns around as Jesse comes running up the hall. “What is it trooper?” Jesse stops in front of him and is scowling. “Can you please do something about Fives and Echo?” Rex raises an eyebrow, “What is the problem?” Before Jesse can get a word out, Fives and Echo come careening around the corner at full speed, kamas around their necks and flying behind them. “Super ARC’s!” Fives yells as they pass Rex and Jesse. Rex just shakes his head and smiles. Jesse rolls his eyes. “Come on Captain. They are so annoying!” “Now Jesse. Someday you may have your own set of kamas. But you have to earn them. Fives and Echo, as annoying as they are, have earned their kamas. They’re not always messing around. They do take care of business. I’m proud of those boys just as much as I’m proud of how far you have come. Hang in there, Jesse. They won’t do that forever.”

The ride back from the Citadel is quiet. Fives trudges to the barracks and sits on his bunk. He takes off his helmet, his pauldron, his kamas, and the rest of his armor. He holds his kamas in his hands and stares at them. As the tears start to fall down his cheeks, he remembers his batch mate and the crazy times they had running down the halls with their kamas around their necks. “You’ll always be super to me, Echo.” Captain Rex comes into the barracks and sits down next to Fives. He puts his arm around his shoulders and holds Fives as the sobs start pouring out of the ARC trooper.

……….

“Hey Fives.” Jesse sits across from Fives in the mess as the ARC is poking at his food. “Hey Jesse.” Fives doesn’t look up but he knows all his brothers voices. “What’s up?” Jesse has a smirk on his face. Fives lifts an eyebrow. “What are you up to?” “Me? Oh nothing. But Hardcase…” “Hey Fives!! Look at me!!!” He looks over and sees Hardcase with Fives’ Kamas around his neck and bolting into the mess hall. “I’m super Hardcase!!” Fives smiles and just shakes his head. “Only you, Hardcase!” Jesse smiles and moves to sit next to Fives. He puts his hand on his shoulder and says, “no one will be as super as you and Echo.” Fives just smiles. “Thanks Jesse. Someday you’ll have your own kamas to wear around your neck.” Jesse just laughs.

The ride back from Umbara is quiet. Fives and Jesse walk back to the barracks in silence and sit on their bunks. Fives takes off his helmet, his pauldron, his Kamas, and his armor. He looks at his Kamas and smiles at the memory of not only Echo, but now Hardcase running down the halls with kamas flying behind them. Jesse takes off his own armor and moves to sit next to Fives. “He was a crazy idiot, wasn’t he?” Fives looks up and smiles at his brother, “yeah, he was. Only Hardcase.”

Captain Rex walks to his quarters in the middle of the sleep cycle. Tears continue to fall down his cheeks as he sits on his bunk. He sets down his helmet and continues to take off his armor. He picks up his kamas and stares at them as the events of the evening come flooding back to him. Fives. Hysterical and scared. Not in his armor but looking like a shiny. Screaming for Rex and Anakin to listen. Then…. “Don’t do it Soldier!” A shot. “Fives!” “Get this ray shield off!” “Stay with me Fives!” Everything keeps playing over and over in his head. His ARC trooper is gone. The final Domino had fallen. Rex had been so proud of his boys when they became ARC’s. They had earned their kamas. He can’t believe they’re both gone now. He hears a knock on the door. “Captain?” “Yes, Jesse?” “May we come in, sir?” “Yes, Jesse.” Jesse and Kix enter the room and sit on either side of the Captain. Jesse puts his arm around Rex, “I’m sorry, Captain. I know how much Fives meant to you.” Rex puts his head on Jesse’s shoulder and lets the tears fall again. Kix puts his hand on Rex’s shoulder. They sit there until morning, when Rex finally falls asleep from exhaustion. They lay Rex in his bunk and cover him with a blanket. As they both turn to leave Jesse looks down and sees Rex’s kamas on the floor. He picks them up and remembers his brothers. Kix whispers to Jesse, “What’s the matter, Vod?” Jesse looks at Kix with tears in his eyes “I’m just remembering Echo and Fives with their kamas like capes. They were so funny. But now they’re gone.” Kix puts his hand on Jesse’s shoulder, “come on brother. Let’s let the Captain get some sleep. You need to rest too.”

Jesse steps off the shuttle and walks toward his Captain and Kix, who are waiting for him in the hangar. New paint job. New pauldron. New kamas. Captain Rex smiles at him and says, “Welcome back, ARC Trooper!” Kix pulls him in for a hug. “I’m so proud of you, Vod!” “Thanks Kix! Thank you Captain! Looks like I finally earned my kamas!” Rex smiles. “Indeed!” Jessie’s smile fades a little as he swallows a lump in his throat. “I just hope I can make them proud.” Kix furrows his brow. “Who Jesse?” “Echo and Fives. I hope I can make them proud by becoming an ARC trooper. I’m sure Hardcase would’ve been ready to steal my kamas as soon as I got off the shuttle!” Rex laughs and claps his hand on Jesse’s shoulder. “I’m sure they would be as proud of you as I am right now! You’ve earned your kamas! I knew you could do it! Now how about we celebrate?” Jesse nods as they leave the hangar.

Echo does a double take when he sees Jesse come into the med bay with Kix. He always knew that Jesse would make a great ARC trooper. It just took him a minute to process that it wasn’t Fives. “Echo!” Jesse hugs him and chokes back a sob. “You’re alive!” Echo smiles wide as he is squeezed by his brother. “Jesse! Stop smothering him! He’s in recovery, you know!” Kix yells as he takes Echo’s vitals for the hundredth time that day. “It’s okay, Kix. I’ve really missed you guys!” Echo says with a laugh and tears in his eyes. “I see you finally earned your kamas!” Jesse looks sheepishly at Echo and nods. Echo smiles. “I knew you could do it!” “Thanks brother!” Jesse says. Echo gives him a wide grin, “so? Have you worn them like a cape yet?”

Echo is sitting on the edge of the ramp of the Havoc Marauder. Hunter, Tech and Wrecker are busy getting supplies. Echo volunteered to stay on the ship since Omega was still asleep when they landed. He’s looking over battle plans on his data pad when he hears tiny footsteps coming at him….rapidly. He turns around to see Omega running out of the ship and down the ramp with his kamas around her neck and her arms stretched out. “Super Omega to the rescue!” She runs circles around Echo and ‘flies’ around a few trees while making whoosh noises. Echo smiles and just shakes his head. He puts his data pad down and starts running around the trees with his arms out. “Super Omega and Super Echo!”

The End

I know I said this would make a funny story but I made myself cry when writing the aftermath of the death scenes. Anyways, hope you like it. Story based off of Echo and Fives with their Kamas around their necks in this picture by @chipss-chips .
