back when the nimona movie came out I remember so many people hating on comic!ambrosius and calling him abusive and shit and I would get really awkward and defensive like "I know he's terrible but I love him" but after rereading it.... he's not even bad? he's a complicated character who made terrible mistakes just like everyone else in the book (except Meredith who's just living her best life) but is always, and i mean ALWAYS, trying his best to be good. he is just very very brainwashed but once his false perceptions of the institution are broken he feels fucking terrible about everything and straight up throws himself into the jaws of death just to do one good thing with his life. I'm so ill over him

(also, abusive? really? abuse is something that is done persistently and usually intentionally over a period of time, it is not.... making some shitty decisions and hurting someone you love)

Stupid headcanon Ambrosius (movie ver.) when he was little spelled his name like "Ambrojus :)" and he didn't learn the right way to spell it for an embarrassingly long time because he would just write nicknames on forms and papers usually.

Like as much as C! Ambro has a weird name at least the poor kiddo could sound it out.

Anyway, this is my idea, as someone who had a stupid long foreign first name (9 letters, and foreign to my own culture + country) that is NOT spelled the same way it's pronounced and didn't know how to actually spell the whole damn thing until I was 9. I feel you, Ambrojus.
