LMK Season 4 spoilers
Uhm so like…imagine the absolute reality shock when the brothers reunite and they found out how DIFFERENT Macaque and Wukong have become.
Like, Wukong was really extroverted and used to act out scenes for them (even though he was probably drunk and was just making fun of the Jade emperor) he used to be so loud and cocky.
And here he is having stage fright of all things…
Then there’s Macaque who was pretty much introverted back then and then boom, he’s cocky, reckless and even to the point where he’s a theatre kid.

I just came up with a hc of why Macaque acting so weak in LMK. What if he's holding back? But not because 'I act weak bc secretly I'm a good guy', no. He just doesn't like using his power. He's afraid of his power.

He once lost control of his powers and that cost him his life, so he unconsciously contains to not lost control of them again. To not die again.
