trying to get your story together like:

sometimes i forget how many times i’ve picked myself off the floor, how many times i’ve washed away smudgy makeup and put myself to bed. how many times i’ve said no to something unhealthy. said yes to something good. how many times i’ve treated myself with kindness and patience. i forget how many times i’ve tended to wounds and made peace with my own anger. if i was taking care of a body that was not my own, i’d believe i was doing everything i could. so here’s to remembering that i’m doing the best i can.

hey guys i haven’t really talked about this but last week there was a dam collapse in the city of Brumadinho in Brazil. +100 people have died, many are missing and the city has been destroyed. vale (the company responsible for this crime) has promised R$100,000 to the families affected by this tragedy but it’s not nearly enough to actually rebuild their lives. if you want and can help please consider donating to ANAB (in english it stands for: movement of people affected by dams).

Forgiveness isn’t easy, especially when there’s an injustice and somebody has done something to hurt you. It is natural to hold anger and resentment against somebody who has wronged you in the past but you have to know that the only person damaged by your anger is you. That person doesn’t care about how angry you are, why would they when they’re not the ones carrying it around? Start to see forgiveness as a selfish act and your ability to take back control. By forgiving them, you are not excusing what they have done to you, you are making the conscious decision to stop it from affecting your mental health and taking a positive step forward.
