Honestly, I would love Aztec and Maya mythology to become more recognized, but I'm also a bit worried that people will butcher it, as it's happened with Greco-Roman and Norse mythology. Like, once an obscure pantheon gets a "big production", a lot of the time what happens is that the directors just grab a bunch of names and concepts then kinda do whatever they want.

I'd also like to see these indigenous characters actually speaking indigenous languages, since a lot of the time people underestimate just how much they're still used. You can actually learn them too: there's TikTok pages of Mexicans who teach Nahuatl, books on the topic, proper classes.... additionally, there's many people in Southern Mexico (e.g. Chiapas) who speak dialects of Maya on the regular.

Sorry, it's a bit pretentious maybe, but I would love to see something that's well-researched and feels earnest.

It doesn’t sound pretentious at all, I hate it when people butcher mythologies in media too! Most of the times, they act like if the mythology is obscure enough, they can do whatever they want with it (when this is not in fact true).

And yeah, more Aztec mythology (well researched of course) content in media sounds awesome!
