i dont like robert pattinson. to be specific, i don't respect him artistically when it comes to his involvement with twilight. he claims now, and may have claimed at the time idk, to have always hated the books and thought edward was dumb, and that he only took on the part out of self hatred. he talks constantly about how weird he thought stephanie meyer was and basically disowns the franchise. this is, in my opinion, bad. not just because i think it added on to the bandwagon, people gleefully declaring him as a smart man who would never enjoy such a girly stupid fantasy, but also because i have a deep resentment for those who don't give their all to the artform they claim to love. can't you defend the character you chose to depict to the best of your ability? try to see the good in and make the best of the art you're helping to make? i think of the costume designer for mirror mirror, who turned an absolutely abhorrent film into an aesthetic marvel. this didn't save the plot of course, but i can't help loving a creative who takes pride in ALL their work. i don't even think his acting is especially bad in twilight, but if he did put in effort to get to know his character and portray him with passion that makes it all the more sad that he would then disavow and mock that effort. for what? the approval of the masses? pride? pitiful.
