From the start of your relationship with Veritas, you had never fully cuddled or held him in your arms. Physical affection was uncharted territory and the unknown made your stomach twist and turn. From what you saw and learned from your parents growing up, ‘physical affection’ was just things being thrown around and negligence, so you never knew what it felt like to hold someone’s hand, to hug someone and feel their warmth, to kiss them gently. You craved affection, but you were scared of it. 

So when Veritas had confessed to you, you were terrified. You had warned him that you were not familiar with expressing physical affection, that it would take some time before you could properly hold and kiss him. But to your surprise, that was the least of his worries. 

He was patient, always respecting your boundaries and asking questions. Otherwise, he’d buy you trinkets and do small acts of service to show that he cared deeply for you. You loved that about him. You loved everything about him. 

The first time you held hands, you felt your body heat up, palms growing sweatier by the second before letting go and apologizing. But Veritas didn’t mind, he was proud of you. He was happy that you were taking small steps as he suggested. 

Other than hand-holding, there wasn’t much. You’d sit next to each other with your shoulders and legs touching, you’d cross your legs over him when watching a movie, and sometimes you’d even lay your head in his lap and vice versa. Physical affection was slowly being explored and you were loving every second– every moment of it despite the lingering hesitation you felt. 

One stormy night, the thunder and lightning had startled you, rendering you unable to sleep. No matter what you did, like drinking tea or reading a book, nothing was working, and the storm only continued to worsen outside the walls. 

Veritas instantly noticed your predicament, closing his book with a sigh before speaking up. 

“_____… Is it alright for you if we cuddle? I’m sure it will help you rest.” 

Glancing at Veritas, you nervously fidgeted with your fingers. You saw no reason to decline, as no other option was working.

“Alright, uhm.” You crawled onto the bed next to him, laying down awkwardly as he turned off the bedside lamp. “How do we–?” “Here.”

Veritas slowly pulled you into his embrace, arms securely wrapping around your waist and cushioning your head. You gasped in surprise, your heart beating against your ribcage, almost wanting to burst out. Your breathing grew heavier, attempting to stabilize it but failing miserably as the proximity flustered you. Veritas peered down at you with a concerned gaze, beginning to move away before you stopped him.

“I-It’s okay! I’m just a little uh..nervous.” You reassured, eyes closing to focus on your breathing. 

A couple of minutes had passed, the rain outside continuing to pelt against the roof in a calming rhythm. It helped ease your mind, your heart beating much slower than before and your breathing returning to its normal pace. You cracked your eyes open, looking up at Veritas who was already observing you, making sure you were okay with this.

Slowly, you inched closer to him, your face hiding against his chest near the crook of his neck. You could hear his heart beating, his breath fanning against your head, and the heat of his body. The smell of his natural scent and shampoo flooded your senses, making you feel fuzzy and warm.

…It felt nice. 

His arm gently tightened around you, being mindful to not squeeze or suffocate you. You slid your free arm along his side, coming to rest around his waist while your other hand was placed on his chest. 

The two of you adjusted your position only by a little bit to ensure the comfort of both of you. 

“Thank you..Veri,” you mumbled, finding it hard to keep your eyes open for longer. You felt his chest vibrate as he hummed.

“Of course, My Love.”

A brief silence passed over the two of you, the sound of thunder had ceased and only rain was left. Focusing on both the rain and the man next to you, you could feel your mind slowly beginning to drift off to sleep. 

“I love you, Veritas.”

“I love you too, _____.”

Looking for Art Advice

Not really my usual post, but I am looking for some advice regarding my art since I've found myself really not liking my art lately.

Now, go easy on me here, this is something I am, admittedly, a bit sensitive about but I really do want to make more solid improvements to where I am happy with my artwork as well. Now, for any artist out there that can give me some good advice, feel free to pop it in the comments or hop into the inbox, whatever you prefer. <3 I'll put some examples here or my more recent works

These are all pieces done over the course of the last few months, the top ones being the most recent. I'm pretty happy with the way I did prove in anatomy, but I find it hard to do shading at times, and especially hard when it comes to rendering skin. I started to paint to try and fix it and progress has been done but it's just so slow RAAAh

Second thing I'm finding a bone to pick with, with myself, is that I'm a bit in a struggle with finding an art style I'm most comfortable with. One one hand I really want to do these more realistic faces and such, but that can be really hard or it sometimes doesn't match the rest of the character, and on the other hand I really like this Genshin/Honkai-ish style. I'm a bit hard on myself in this area, I suppose that's due to me being a victim of "if you can't draw realistic you're not an artist" bs lol. Overall I do love many styles and I'd love to know to draw in so many of them but that's a bit unrealistic 😭

But anyway, whatever advice you may have for me, I'll welcome it with open arms and try to take whatever I can for it so I can improve. Thank you for your time <3
