FundsForGaza is a page of a rotating list of fundraisers for Gazans - individuals and families who are in Gaza right now and facing genocide.

It is explained in more detail in this post from the official instagram account, but to quickly summarise, six verified fundraisers are highlighted at a time, allowing you to provide direct support without being overwhelmed by the amount of fundraisers, worrying about outdated information, or falling for scams.

The youngest Palestinian journalist is a 9 year old girl.

Her name Lama Jamous.

Lama has been reporting on tik tok what has been happening in Gaza. Her father is a journalist working for Al Jazeera and is trying to get her out of Rafah.

Link to the gofundme from the video

Please share her story.

Edited to include video description provided by @a-captions-blog

[Video description: TikTok by @ZerlinaSchmerlina, whose face is edited over a photo of a Palestinian child holding a phone camera up to the sea. This was posted by lama_jamous9. Zerlina says: This is Lama. She is a nine-year-old Afro-Palestinian journalist who lives in Gaza, and her father is trying really hard to get her evacuated into Egypt. There is a GoFundMe link in my bio where people have raised well over $48,000. I think It's like $52,000 right now to help get her and her family into Egypt. But what is really really important that we can do is please make videos, and please share and repost videos really raising awareness about the urgency of getting her into safety, her and her family to safety. I have tagged Al Jazeera English in this caption, but you can also tag them in your own videos that you make, in the comment section on Instagram etc. Please help raise awareness. [The background photo changes to show Lama holding a pink flower up to the camera.] Constant effort and pressure for a ceasefire can sometimes feel hopeless when our governments are not listening to us, but if there’s something we can do to help one, two, three children, let’s please do it. Please make a video and help raise awareness, and help put the pressure on to bring her and her family into safety. \End description]

The 'Kids Online Safety Act' [KOSA] continues to move forward

Microsoft now endorses this legislation, which will likely help garner political support. Help counter this bill!

KOSA is a bipartisan bill introduced to censor content on the internet deemed 'inappropriate' for minors. This bill is intended to target the LGBTQIA+ community and otherwise cause harm to minors.

Access to any supportive resources like queer-youth support groups, suicide hotlines, and important health information can be targeted.

I know you have all probably seen the esims for gaza posts circulating. Some of you have probably looked at them and thought maybe you should help out, but have weighed up the daunting process of signing up for something you're unfamiliar with vs. the gut-wrenching scale of the things people are going through on the ground right now, and you've put it off or questioned whether it will make enough of a difference vs. some other future kind of activism you could put that $6+ towards. I'm not calling you out or scolding you, it is natural to feel conflicted and ambivalent about the multiple calls for aid that you are seeing on social media.

but consider this: what would you do if you suddenly had to leave your home? how would you cope? how would you begin to plan where to go next, or figure out what to do to take care of yourself? most likely you would reach reflexively for your phone.

telecoms access is not a petty luxury in 2024. a loaded esim means the ability to call family members and find out where they are and whether they're safe, and whether they need anything you can provide for them. it means access to maps and regular updates on the situation unfolding around you. it means you can look up whether it's safe to drink rain water, or how to tie a type of knot you've never had to think about before, or how to treat an injury without medical supplies. it means the ability to tell people outside the situation what you are seeing, what you are feeling, what you are thinking. it is an absolutely crucial resource. and it starts at $6 for 7 days.

many many people have observed that internet access is changing the way the world understands genocide. internet access is life or death, and it is shaping modern history in front of you. and it starts at $6 for 7 days.

please, please visit gazaesims.com and spend 5 minutes and $6 to change the way this plays out for everyone.

direct help for two Palestinians in Gaza who are in need of urgent medical attention

support to save their lives, organized by Shereen Alhayek
gofundme.com
Für wen die Hilfe bestimmt ist my sisters, Duaa and Deena Der Grund für meine Spende… Shereen Alhayek needs your support for support t

Hi all, I am posting on behalf of my beloved friend's acquaintance, who is doing a gofundme to help her two surviving sisters; Both of whom are gravely injured. This is a gofundme to help two women leave Gaza and enter Egypt to receive necessary medical attention.

I have a platform here on tumblr with a stable following, and it would be incredible if we could somehow get this page to trend, because rn, They need 30k euro to both leave Gaza and receive treatment in Egypt, and as of January 6, 2024 the donations have only amounted to 400 or so euro.

english text from the page:

During the war in Gaza, our family's house was subjected to bombing and destruction, resulting in the tragic loss of my father, brother, and his daughter. Additionally, my sisters, Duaa and Dina, sustained serious injuries. Unfortunately, the necessary medical treatment is not available in Gaza, so we need your assistance to transport them to Cairo for treatment.

The cost of leaving Gaza and securing the required medical treatment is approximately 30,000 euros. We all hope for your response and support to save their lives.

If you see this, PLEASE rb! I'm anxious that tumblr will hide this post, when the more people who see this post, the more help we can get! Thank you so much, everyone!!

"There's No Sin I Can Remember That Would Shame Me, I Only Knew I Am Palestinian"

"There's no sin I can remember that would shame me, I only knew I am Palestinian"

from one of my grandfather's poems.

as a palestinian whose family come from gaza, it didn't feel right to continue posting fandom art let alone talk about anything other than palestine, that's why I haven't been posting here, that's why I dedicated my twitter account to keep reposting and talking about palestine.

from the river to the sea, palestine will be free 🇵🇸

We are not wired to see their presence in MVs as contributing any unique or significant meaning to the story telling.

However seeing two men or two women portrayed as leads and love interests adds a political dimension to the message of the song or story of the MV.

But isn’t JK sort of "queer cleansing" in Ch 2?

All those women in his MV’s who he had zero chemistry with but not a single reference to being into men (not that I expect that of course, being from a homophobic country. More like being in the closet, unfortunately.. but still).

I think his side of Ch 2 is interesting, based on the past ten years up until the military announcement— which is when this sudden "flipped switch" from disliking/being indifferent about dating women, refusing to sing "girl" in a Jason Derulo cover and being the object of other men’s affection, to singing about boinking women seemed to happen.

If the blurry video wasn’t true, I wonder if BH didn’t rush to clean it up because it kind of worked out to help with JK’s new "ladies man" image 💀💀 His face isn’t even decipherable but at least half the fandom ate that up!

To some extent I guess.

Heteronormativity and queer cleansing are two related but distinct concepts so I hope you are not confusing the two as one and the same in this case.

Heteronormativity in this sense is promoting hetersexuality and images of it as the standard or mainstream idea of something. For instance, what is the purpose of choosing a female lead to play the role of love interest besides the fact that that is just how things are done in the industry??

At this point it doesn't even matter at all the female you cast, it just has to be A female to play the role. It's not political, it doesn't speak to the sexual orientation of the individual, it's just what sells and what is considered the norm or standard way of doing things. You could replace the female subject with an inanimate object and the message of love and affection will not be lost.

Over using female as love interests without allowing for much diversity in music visuals has led to a situation where the woman has become a neutral marker in art. Much like words such as Man or other masculine forms gained neutrality and universality such that where you see man or dude or guy in a text you don't necessarily think they are referring strictly to a man, it's the same for women. They are there because they are expected to be there.

We are not wired to see their presence in MVs as contributing any unique or significant meaning to the story telling.

However seeing two men or two women portrayed as leads and love interests adds a political dimension to the message of the song or story of the MV.

It's why visuals such as Blood Sweat and Tears and the whole visual album of HYYH era speaks to many of us. Other wise they are all men, they can just sit and shout into a mic cos no one wants to see them grope each other- it's gay.

It's also why a producer will tell Tae to find a female to sing a part he wrote for Jimin on his personal song- it wasn't because a female voice was required for the song but simply unconventional for two men to sing a duet of that kind.

That's heteronormativity not queer cleansing.

A cleanse is an intentional act meant to please an audience, to calm their wrath and to portray conformity to the desires of the masses.

Heteronormativity is unconscious biases and decisions that meaningless in themselves but don't not just to please but done for the sheer reason that that is what we know and what is the norm.

I guess the difference is, did Jungkook have a choice other than choosing a female character for the role? No. To choose a male character for such a role would be so political and revolutionary because it would be going outside the norm.

Having a female lead is just a trend. For straight people, if they want to be "political" they often cast the real object of their affections and discard the models and artists. JB did that with his wife and uhm- what's the name of the dude who said his lungs under water but was breathing fire?

Queer cleansing is not just about heteronormativity. IPromoting and using women as leads is not necessarily a cleanse.

It's heteronormative because whether he is in Korea or not, whether his country is conservative or not, whether he is gay or not, he would have casted a female as lead because it is expected and normalized.

I mean, why else would they have casted female leads for their mv way back when they were starting out, as young as they were as young as he was?

Why else would he date a girl when he had no feelings whatsoever for her.

Why else were they made to pick up girls and demonstrate how they would ask a girl out or kiss a girl as entertainment disregarding the fact not all of them might have been into girls.

Let me leave you with this imagery:

Heteronormativity, like right handedness, or able bodiedness is the default setting of society. Manufacturers create products build cars, roads on the assumption that every one is right handed able-bodied straight individual and every in society is made to defaultly cater to these group.

So sometimes when people create products we can't say they are making revolutionary statement or even deliberately being discriminatory- they doing so simply because it's how things are done.

Jungkook might simply film an MV that way because that's how things are done in the industry.

I hope in the future he realizes this challenge and goes out if his way to challenge it not because he is queer but because he desires to bring change and uniqueness into the world.

And you are right. There are so many instances of hybe cleaning up his image or putting him through queer cleansing- I just don't think the MV is one of those.

Like I said, even his own fans try to queer cleanse his image by cooking up straight rumors or even attacking people to try to suppress and disassociate him from any queer narrative.

And it's a cleanse because they do this with the understanding that portraying him as queer is harmful to his image or reputation or even a threat to his commercial success such as them tearing down his banners and even banning BTS in certain places because they seem "gay" smh

Please Sign The Petition & Spread. Thank You!!!

Please Sign The Petition & Spread. Thank You!!!

Virgilio Aguilar Mendez, an 18-year-old indigenous-Maya teen from Guatemala, is currently being held without bond in St. John’s County for a crime he DID NOT commit. Virgilio was a victim of police brutality and violation of his 4th amendment right to be free from unreasonable search and seizure

on May 19th, 2023 for standing outside the motel he was residing in while on a call with his dad. Sergeant Kunovich said he "looked suspicious" and began yelling at Virgilio.

Virgilio expressed he didn't speak English on more than one occasion and that he was residing at that motel. This interaction led to an 8 minute struggle where Virgilio was physically abused and tased multiple times by multiple officers although he made it clear to the officers involved that he did not understand English, and despite Virgilio being 5-foot-4 and weighing 115 pounds.

Sergeant Kunovich suffered a heart attack minutes after the struggle and died at the hospital. Medical examiners ruled that Sergeant Kunovich died of natural causes. Despite this ruling, The St. John’s County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the State Attorney for the 7th Judicial Circuit of Florida have charged Virgilio with aggravated manslaughter of a police officer and are attempting to put Virgilio away for life for alleged crimes he did not commit. Sergeant Kunovich died from a heart attack as a result of an incident he himself started unnecessarily and unconstitutionally that was not caused by Virgilio, but by a pre-existing condition. Virgilio has been held since May 2023 without bond, completely isolated due to his primary language being Mam, for a crime he did not commit.

After Kunovich's death, the elected sheriff of St. John County, Robert Hardwick, blatantly lied to the public on live TV by announcing during a press conference surrounded by other elected officials that Virgilio Aguilar was stopped because he was trespassing and that he had a pulled a knife on Sergeant Kunovich, which was the reason they declared Sergeant Kunovich and the other officers began to apprehend and use force to arrest Virgilio. Bodycam videos released after this press conference reveal that there was never a knife pulled on Sergeant Kunovich at all and there was no mention of a trespass in the videos or police reports, thereby undermining the credibility of the office Sheriff Hardwick leads and perpetuating the mistrust of people towards elected officials. Before Sergeant Michael Kunovich stopped Virgilio, there was no possible crime.

We are demanding the immediate release of Virgilio Aguilar Mendez from custody and for the charges to be dropped immediately as his constitutional and civil rights were violated by the St. John’s County Sheriff’s Office. These rights protect all people within this country, regardless of immigration status. If Virgilio is convicted and sentenced to prison for this incident it will create an extremely dangerous precedent in this country; because if a police officer dies from a heart attack during a police-citizen encounter, anyone in this country can be charged, convicted and sentenced to life in prison for that officer’s death. This precedent would run contrary to the fundamental tenants of freedom and Liberty, which are scared in our country. It is not a crime to stand outside your place of residence at any given time. We are demanding that Governor Ron DeSantis and 7th circuit state attorney, RJ Larizza get involved in the dismissal of this case immediately as Virgilio's right are being violated and neglected by the St. John's County Sheriff's Office. Virgilio has been sitting in jail for 7 months and will be kept there for an indefinite period unless they release him.

It's still shocking to me how strangers all around the world can perfectly put into words what I feel daily, but to communicate it to the people that are actually around me while I feel those things, I have to expose myself only to feel silly and weird cause they never know what to do with the information.

Thanks for writing this. Felt like a very empathetic punch in the gut ✨

(also, I think I've subconsciously been invalidating my feelings because they were just related to people's perception and not really relevant to my self esteem levels, oh well)

i hate talking about dysphoria with cis ppl because they immediately clock it as body dysmorphia, and only as body dysmorphia. (i say only bc some trans ppl can and do experience both)

i can't talk about how i hate how my thighs make me feel/look feminine because they always say "but you look fine!" or "i think you look amazing!" or "but you should love them!"

and it's so hard to describe dysphoria, especially to ppl who don't experience it, or who don't want to understand it isn't dysmorphia

and no matter how hard you try to explain they always try to make you love this body you have because "you should love yourself as you are!"

but i do love myself. but not quite exactly how i am. i love what i know I can be. i love knowing that one day i'll have top surgery scars i can trace with my fingers and a scratchy beard from T. i love knowing that I can eventually do my silly little effeminate gestures without hating how it makes me look. i love knowing that eventually i can look in a mirror and grin at the man i've become.

but that's not right now. i may cry a little when a shirt doesn't fit the way it should, but i don't hate the body that makes it that way. I may feel a pit in my stomach when I realize the way that i'm standing makes me look girly, but i don't hate that i'm standing that way.

i don't hate that i used to be a girl but i hate when people still think i am.

i don't hate my body, i just hate how it isn't what it's supposed to be quite yet. could that make any sense to the cis folks reading this?

I am trans and I love my body, just sometimes it doesn't love me back. and one day it will.
