@taverntrout happy birthday my love

Ned was utterly exhausted, his entire body was aching and his leg felt as if it was on fire. He had lost track of the number of days that he had been on the road, how long had passed since Varys had spirited him from the Black Cells. The eunuch had promised the Lord that his daughters would be safe if he just did as was asked. He hated the wait, having to trust a man he did not know at all let alone well, but something told him that the Spider would do all in his power to keep the girls safe. Sansa and his little Arya would not forfeit their lives from Nedβs failed attempt to take the lions out of power, that much he had been promised.
Grey eyes look up at where his escort had been bringing him and Ned could not help but feel a little safe at the sight of the Drunken Prince. He could not count the number of times he had come as a young man, visiting when his brother would come south to see his betrothed. The last time he had seen it was after the Battle of the Bells. He hadnβt entered that day, however, and he found himself wondering now if the old man who ran the tavern was even still alive. Varysβs creature, a child he called a little bird, helped Ned get off his horse without falling and make his way to the door of the tavern.
The little bird handed him a note from Varys, reminding him once again that he could not reveal who he really was to anyone. With that, the child went back to the horses and Ned leaned against the frame of the door. The feverish man then raised a hand and knocked.
