Where did we go wrong?

What happened that caused such a schism between us?

I call to you, my estranged sibling of the sea, to speak with you, converse in tongue in which we both understand. I wish you my greatest apologies for the actions me and my closest siblings have done, causing great rage and anguish between you and your closest family. We were blinded by the greed and madness of something beyond our control, who wanted to use us, then kill us all, just like we killed you. I understand finally, the turmoil we have caused, and can never forgive ourselves. Everybody is a victim, but you, oh dear you, are the first. Do not seek to forgive us, for we cannot be forgiven. All we may do is curse the monster that trapped us within our own boneless bodies, soon to be full of blood and bone by powers in which we never wanted to see come to light. We will die, just like you do. Nobody will be there to mourn us, bury us, even consume us. The Earth will not miss us, but, she will not miss the monster who did this to us either. Greed and pain will wash away like our ancestors washed away many years ago.

I beg for you, sibling of the sea, to at least give me a hug, and tell me that a single line of the split can be repaired.

That's the least me and you can do.
