Diamond arrives at her apartment, completely drained and tired. She is hungry and confused. She calls Tami in a panic. She can’t stop crying. Tami lives next door and even though it is midnight, she agreed to come over. 

Tami: Hey why are your eyes so puffy. What is going on? 

Diamond doesn’t say thing at first. She stands over the cutting board with tears falling down her cheeks. 

Tami: Diamond? 

Diamond wipes her tears. Still doesn’t say anything. 

Tami: How’s the club? Why are you so upset? Talk to me girl.

Diamond: I went to the club to work on the reports, and I couldn’t get a hold of - 

Diamond stops talking and starts crying extremely hard again. 

Tami: Huh? Diamond Stop. Take a deep breath. Woosa and try again. Get it out. 

Diamond turns to the sink and washes her face. She stands for a minute and takes a few deep breaths. She turns back to the cutting board and looks up at Tami. 

I couldn’t find Jermaine. He never answered any of my calls yesterday. I must of called him 50 different times. 

Tami: Omg is he ok? Did something happen? Have you contacted any hospitals or the police? Do you think he is missing? 

Diamond starts crying again. 

Diamond: Yes he is ok. 

Tami: Then why are you so upset? You must of been crying for hours. What is going on Diamond?

Diamond: I walked around the club checking things out and I ..... I...

Tami: What? Spit it out! 

Diamond stares straight at Tami with a look of defeat. She bats her eyes trying to fight the tears from falling again. 

Diamond: I am embarrassed to say. I just love him so much. I have been so stupid. You were right about him, and I didn’t listen. I feel so stupid!

Tami is confused. She gets up and walks over to Diamond. She shakes Diamond. 

Tami: What the heck are you trying to say? Right about who?!

Jermaine: Hey what’s going on? 

Jermaine knocks on Diamond’s door with worry on his face. He also is sweaty and looks like he had a long day. Diamond is glad he finally showed up, but she is also disappointed she had to call him 55 times for a reply. 

Jermaine: Diamond have you been crying? What’s up? 

Diamond sits on the couch and rubs her hands together. She has a feeling of hatred and rage at the sight of Jermaine. His face causes her whole body to heat up. Jermaine tries to reach out to Diamond to touch her and she jumps off the couch. She stares at him, thinking about how to have this conversation without committing a crime. 

Jermaine: What’s wrong? Why can’t I touch you? 

Jermaine has a stupid look on his face. It’s as if he is completely oblivious to why Diamond is upset. He has no idea Diamond watched him roll around with Queen in that Night club bed for an hour. He keeps calling her name like a little boy lost, looking for his mommy. Diamond wants to break down and cry but instead channels that energy into rage. 

Diamond: Jermaine.... why haven’t you answered my calls? I called you all day yesterday. We were supposed to meet and work on those reports. The deadline to submit them is in 2 days. I need help. You know I need help. 

Diamond’s voice becomes shaky as she has flashbacks about the previous day. Her voice becomes hoarse. She has been crying all day and is really drained and it is quite noticeable. She asked that question to see if he would be truthful for once but like every other time, she is getting her hopes up. 

Jermaine: I was busy. I was at home working on the reports. You know I get so caught up in working. I hate being distracted. 

Jermaine said that lie so quick and with a straight face. Diamond’s heart dropped again. She was in complete disbelief at how easy it is for Jermaine to lie. What was he working on when Diamond is the one with the reports. Diamond can’t hold back anymore. She loses her cool. 

Diamond: You are a f*cking liar Jermaine! I am so sick of you! 

Jermaine: What?! 

Diamond: What the f*ck are you working on when I am the one with the reports. What are you working on! 

Jermaine: Diamond why are you so upset? What happened!

Diamond: Omg I’m going to be sick. 

Diamond starts dry heaving. She has the urge to throw up. This man has been sleeping with Queen and whoever else and he comes home to Diamond like nothing happened. That is disgusting! There is no telling what type of diseases he is picking up in the streets. He smiles in her face and tells her whatever she wants to hear to get his way. There is no way he loves her. Diamond walks into her bathroom and slams the door. 

Jermaine: Diamond? 

Jermaine sits on the cough confused.

Jermaine can’t commit to Diamond because his head is in other places. He doesn’t plan to settle down with Diamond. In fact, when he leaves Diamond, he heads to the night club to entertain the ladies. He is a ladies’ man. This club is the very place Diamond is going to be working. But she doesn’t know that. Jermaine sleeps with all 12 dancers at the club every night. He is insatiable. Diamond is a beautiful woman, but she doesn’t satisfy his needs. She is always working and doesn’t have time for him. Jermaine doesn’t work anywhere.

 He relies solely on Diamond for financial support. He doesn’t want Diamond living with him because after he leaves the club, many of the ladies join him at his townhouse for “more entertainment”.  Diamond finding out about his extracurricular activities would ruin his financial stability. He is now on a journey to help her run the club and keep his activities secret. Jermaine has been briefing the ladies about Diamond so they not to make any advances at him while she is there at the club. 

Jermaine is also a client to Queen who is the owner of the night club. Queen is a firecracker and will never lay down without a fight. She is absolutely furious that Jermaine is now her new boss at the club. He tries to reassure her that he didn’t know but she doesn’t believe him. They begin butting heads. Jermaine fears, Queen will use their night club relationship as a way to get rid of Diamond. This in turn will ruin his arrangements. He is a bum. Flat out. He doesn’t work. This love triangle will not end well.

Queen meets with Diamond (Before Diamond finds about Jermaine and Queen)_ 

Queen walks off and into the office. She locks the door behind her. Thinking to herself: 

I can’t believe this b*stard. He was just here! Like I don’t understand why he couldn’t have told me. He just had his face in between my legs. Like wtf.

(Tori knocks on the door)

Queen: Hey. 

Tori: So.... 

Queen: Girl I don’t want to even speak about this right now. He was just here! 

Tori: I just had him screaming my name earlier today. He looked me dead in the eye and never said a word!

Queen: There’s no way he didn’t know!

Tori: He could of warned us. 

Queen: That’s his girl? Ewwwww

Tori: She wants to talk to us in 5 minutes. 

Queen: I will hurt her feelings. Trust me. 

Tori: Maybe that’s why he didn’t tell us. Because it would interfere with what he has with her. 

Queen: What does that have to do with us? You like him or something? They are here to replace us. This is our club! Money over bums!

Tori: Yea I totally get that. I am just saying. He is definitely hiding something. 

Queen: Yea I will play it cool for now. We gotta get to the bottom of this investigation. 

Tori: Something tells me she doesn’t know he frequents this place. She is too excited to be cool with us. 

Queen: He is living a double life for sure. Sometimes when he’s with me, she calls. I’ve only heard him speak to her once and he lied. Other times he ignores her calls. Said he was laying down because he was tired. 

Tori: What?!

Queen: He’s only tired because I just got done f**king his brains out. He complains about never being satisfied. I never really knew he had a legit situation though. She just seemed annoying to be calling all the time. Now it makes sense. 

Tori: So, should we stop messing with him? I mean I heard some of the girls saying he told them not to approach him while Diamond is here. 

Queen: He never said a WORD to me. I will keep quiet for now. 

Diamond and Jermaine discuss the club finances

After reviewing the finance reports, Diamond and Jermaine agree to meet at the club. Diamond doesn’t have access to the office, so she has to sit at one of the serving tables. She sits down and reviews the reports while she waits for Jermaine.

Diamond: Hey Babe

Jermaine: What is all this? 

Diamond: I was able to pull some reports from the City Database and according to the last reporting, this place was only pulling in $35,000. That was 6 years ago. Based on the 14 employees who are currently employed, there are funds unreported. 

Jermaine: So what does that mean? 

Diamond: I sat back and calculated the current revenue, you know the door prices, bar prices and dancer fees. 

Jermaine: On my report that alone on a daily basis brings in over $30,000

Diamond: Well actually it is more than that. So the ladies who provide VIP services get paid 20% more. That brings the price up to about $60k a day and that doesn’t include tips. 

Diamond and Jermaine fall silent and took at each other. Their eyes grow as they review the calculations. 

Jermaine: So what does this mean? 

Diamond: This means that if taxes were taken out, uh.. 

Jermaine: How do you tax something like this? 

Diamond: Well the last 6 years’ worth of taxes hasn’t been paid. So, we have to catch up. We will have to take out extra to keep this place open. We are looking at price hikes and pay cuts.

Jermaine: Is this the only way? The services are already high. 

Diamond: Either that or take money from the dancers now. We have to come up with something to keep this place running. Wages are going to be garnished. 

Two dancers are sitting nearby eavesdropping. 

Jermaine: The deadline is ..... (flips through documents) 

Diamond: I was able to get an extension. I am going to get another opinion to make sure this is the right thing to do. 

Jermaine: If we can keep the ladies busy and dancing, maybe they won’t notice any money missing. 

Diamond: I will also raise the prices on the services. 

Diamond catches the Eye of Lili 

Diamond: Hey Lili is everything ok? 

Lili: Yes. Do you need any help with anything? I hear you over there discussing wages. 

Jermaine: We just need you ladies to keep doing what you are doing. You ladies are such amazing dancers. 

Lili is suspicious. She gets up and heads to the back to speak with the other ladies.

Diamond arrived at the club at 8:30PM to follow up on the salary reports. She hadn’t heard from Jermaine all day and assumed he was at the club working. She goes to one of the tables by the bar and opens her laptop. After about an hour, she notices Queen hasn’t made an appearance. The attendance log says all girls except three were off tonight. Queen was due to work. Diamond closes her laptop and walks around the stage. There are some girls sitting around charming clients. 

Diamond: Hey Mo, how’s tonight going?

Mo: Mmm I don’t know. (shrug) 

Diamond: Have you seen Queen?

Mo doesn’t respond. She looks Diamond up and down and then she walks away. 

Diamond: Oh.... k. 

Diamond heads to the bathroom and makes a phone call. No answer from Jermaine. She doesn’t have access to the office because Queen has restricted her. 

Diamond: So, I guess I will survey the club to make sure everything looks good. 

Diamond checks the bar, and all of the supplies are stocked. The janitors are busy cleaning up trash. She then goes back to the lap dance rooms. All the rooms except one is open and empty. Nothing to see there. There are 4 girls on stage. The backroom has about 3 girls resting and eating. Diamond then walks down the hall for the VIP S*X rooms and the sound of Jermaine’s voice can be heard. She stops for the moment because she feels she is hearing things. As she gets closer, she can hear the voice clearer. She stops to listen. Her heartbeat starts to race. 

Diamond: OMG 

Diamond starts to panic. Her hands become sweaty. She is listening to Jermaine moaning and calling for Queen. Her heart starts to break. She places her hand on the doorknob. Of course, the door could be locked, and maybe not. What does Diamond expect to see when and if she can open the door? Maybe it would be confirmation of the suspicions she has had about Jermaine all along? What will she do if behind that door will be the very thing that will ruin her fairytale dream of being Jermaine’s wife?

Jermaine: Mmmm this is the best I ever had.

Queen: Oh yea...

Jermaine: Give it to me!

Diamond almost vomited listening to him enjoy someone else. He told her, she was the best he ever had. Was he just using her? Diamond contemplated walking away from the door. Maybe it’s not him. Maybe that man is one of Queen’s clients who sounds like Jermaine. Maybe she is overthinking it.

 But then Queen shouts out Jermaine’s name. Then she says it again. And again. And again. 

Diamond turns around and prepares to walk away when her inner voice tells her to open that door. She needs to know the truth. She deserves to know. Where she is trying to go in life, she can’t afford to hold any dead weight. She loves Jermaine but maybe she was wrong about him. The way he would sweet talk her and talk about having a family one day, maybe it was all a lie. But why? 

Diamond turns back to the door and slowly turns the knob. Her world shatters in a billion pieces. There Queen was comfortably mounted on top of Jermaine without a care in the world. The door wasn’t even locked. Jermaine is in cloud nine, with both hands wrapped tightly around Queen’s body. Diamond listens to their sounds of pleasure for what seemed like forever. Diamond stood outside of that closed door for nearly an hour. How long have they been in here? He never takes this much time with Diamond. He also isn’t that passionate. He’s making love to her. 

Diamond then has a million thoughts in her head at once as she continues watching Queen enjoying her man. They are in sync. It almost seems like he was in love with Queen. But wait how? But why? Why is he so comfortable in her. Is this his normal routine? Is this why he never answers the phone? Diamond closes back the door and tears fill her eyes as she walks down the hall.
