Ksjkjxksjd taking a look at this AFTER the episode personally my take ok the blademage series is that it's actually a self insert sort od azura book written by mattholomule, taking things from his own life and making himself the protagonist. The way everything is phrased and written just gives me "writing self insert adventure novel" vibes because I used to do that so much when I was younger- like the old man reminded me of the old man in the illusionists graveyard. And the writing just seemed very... Mattholomule.

NEW LORE???

Okay so not really but WE GET A SAMPLE FROM MATTHOLOMULE'S FAVORITE BOOK!! Which first of all is funny all on it's own, but it's also got lore! I think we can safely assume that sword magic isn't real, but. We get to learn more about St. Epiderm! They're a very methodical school, and very orderly. Then we also find out that Mattholomule reads fantasy books about underdogs finding secret overpowered magic (projection perhaps?)

AND this part might be mostly hopefulness but the fact this is coming out close to labyrinth runners, I think this lends more credence to the idea that Matt could be the unlikely ally! Like, look at this:

the protagonist finds this thing while he's wandering around in the labyrinth... coincidence much?

This episode gave us so much quality Mattholomule content I'm gonna make a whole appreciation post about it (and even spell his name correctly this time)
