genre: him removing your makeup, softie, smiles, kisses, hugs, comfort, idk its just simple fluff notes: even if i dont get requests for him, no one will stop me from writing for hyunjae, he's just so fun to characterize..! him and sunwoo are the easiest for me. this is for the people who come home and completely faint from exhaustion (AKA me) word count: 0.8k

hyunjae smiled as you unlocked the front door. but his grin faltered slightly when he saw the state you were in. your hair was frazzled, your clothes rumpled, and most importantly, a frown on your face. you were clearly upset, with your clenched jaw and piercing glare. 

he quickly put down his phone and walked over to where you were standing, frozen and wallowing in sorrow. he gently cupped your face in his hands, making you look up at him. his heart felt like it was breaking when he saw your reddening eyes, a sign of tears.

“bad day?” he whispered, his eyes soft and gentle.

you could only nod in response, leaning into his touch. he slowly stroked your cheek with his thumb, looking at you with the most endearing gaze. then, he stepped forward so you could lean your head on his chest. you reveled in the pattern of his breathing and his familiar cologne as he continuously patted the top of your head soothingly.

“it’s okay,” he spoke quietly, in which you could feel his words vibrating through his chest. he pulled away, facing you with a calming expression as he tilted his head to get your attention. “it’s okay to have a bad day,” he whispered. “let me take care of you from now on.”

your breath hitched at his words before your lips turned up into a weary smile. there was a moment of silence before you just collapsed against him.

“i’m tired,” was all you could muster.

he hummed, “i know.” he took your hand into his warm one and led you to the bathroom.

you watched as he carefully picked you up and set you to sit on the sink. it was then that you realized what he intended to do. you always took your makeup off at this time of the day. and so your heart melted when you realized that he was going to do it for you after seeing you so tired. 

he walked over to the cabinet and opened it. you smiled as you saw him struggle to find the makeup remover and how his eyes brightened when he finally spotted the familiar light blue bottle. he opened it, poured it into a cotton pad, and closed the cabinet. 

he walked over to where you were sitting patiently. your heartbeat sped up slightly as he hooked a finger under your chin, making you look up at him once again. he gave you a small smile as he brought the soft cotton up to your face. as gently as he could, he slowly rubbed your skin, trying his hardest not to do so too hard. his other hand held the side of your face oh so gently, his warmth beginning to lift the weight in your chest.

your eyes never left his, as you admired the beauty before you. 

little did you know, he was doing the same. his kind eyes took in each of your features, as more and more of your makeup began to disappear. 

after taking off the makeup on your skin, hyunjae moved to your eyes. he blinked repeatedly, batting his eyelashes adorably to signal for you to close them. you giggled at his adorable action before following his order.

as gentle as he was before, he made sure to take off every trace of color on your eyelids and even made sure to wipe the parts that were always so stubborn to come off. once he was done, he softly tapped your cheek so you could open your eyes. 

he put the now-stained cotton pad down and slowly closed the distance between them, setting his hands on the counter on either side of you. he leaned forward, caging you against his body. 

“hey, pretty,” he giggled. you scrunched your nose in response as he pressed a quick peck to the tip of it.

he was only inches away from your face as his lips curled up, admiring your features. he always thought you were beautiful with or without makeup. no matter how tired you looked, he thought you were an angel. you soon began to shy away from his stare, only for his finger to guide you back.

hyunjae’s eyes wandered to yours, admiring the natural shape of it and your eyelashes. then, he admired the slope of your nose. his gaze traveled down until they met your lips. 

he breathed out a quiet laugh when he noticed your cheeks turn a bit red from the intense contact. 

and then, he closed the distance. he gave you a soft kiss, making your insides melt. his warm lips moved against yours slowly while his hands shifted to your waist making your senses tingle. you felt your whole body heat up when you noticed him start to smile into the kiss.

he pulled away after a while. his lips were painted a slight red as he gazed down at you with sparkling eyes. 

and then he wrapped his arms around you, and easily picked you up into his embrace. he carried you in the direction of the bedroom. 

“let’s go to sleep, hm?”

This was so out of your character but you just wanted him. You didn’t care if he wasn’t yours to take, you needed him. 

Your eyes lifted as the lecture room began to fill in and you unconsciously searched for that tuft of brown hair and set of dimples. You felt  your heartbeat speed up when you saw him find his seat two rows down from you, completely oblivious to your staring. 

“Still going crazy for Jung Jaehyun I see” you heard a familiar voice sing behind you as they scooted into their seat. 

“Ten please shut up someone could’ve heard you” 

“Babe I’d be extremely surprised if someone in this room didn’t know you had the hots for Jaehyun” Ten stuck his tongue out, pulling out his textbook from his backpack. 

You rolled your eyes knowing your best friend was probably right. You had been crushing on Jaehyun since you laid eyes on him a few months ago after attending one of his basketball games and when he dropped in the winning shot you were fucking hooked. 

The only problem was that Jaehyun had a girlfriend, a long term one at that. You didn’t understand what he saw in her. Apart from her looks, she was quite abrasive and had a habit of making everyone around her feel like shit. Jaehyun on the other hand was a sweetheart. He tried his best to meet everyone’s expectations and was able to adapt in many different social circles. 

Anyone else knew that going after someone who was in a relationship was a dick move, and you did get to an extent, the whole respectful bullshit or whatever. But you and Ten being the assholes that you were, thought that if there was an opening, it’s not as solid as it should be. 

“It’s simple” Ten said as the two of you grabbed ice coffee at the campus cafe, “other people usually just go head on and flirt with someone right off the bat” 

He took a sip of his drink and hummed,

“You need to play the field, you need to make them realize that their options are open.” 

“Very insightful Dr. Lee” you laughed and hooked arms with him, making your way over to a table that was covered by a cherry blossom tree. 

You and Ten noticed Jaehyun and his girlfriend emerge from the lecture hall hand in hand as she pulled him over to her pretentious group of friends. 

“I want him so fucking bad” you groaned as you continued watching him be happy with someone else. 

“Who wants who so bad ?” You heard a giggle and Taeyong, your other close friend made his way over to your table. 

“The never ending Jaehyun and y/n saga” Ten mused, making space for Taeyong on the bench. 

“Not him again” Taeyong took a sip of your coffee, “why do you always like those preppy guys ?” 

“He’s not preppy! He’s like us! You guys just don’t know the real him” you argued, your eyes still filled with stars as you watched him remove his jacket and flex his arms in his plain white tee. 

“Like us?” Taeyong pointed toward Ten, “Ten has fucked half of the swim team and four of them are still trying to get in a relationship with him.”
