'Can 2 men not just be friends?'

Sure they can, infact it's rude to assume they're anything more than that if they're real-life people. Of course, just because it's rude doesn't mean your wrong but as my dad (and lots of other people I'm sure) likes to say, 'assuming makes an ass out of you and me'.

However if the 2 men in this situation are fictional then them just being friends is entirely up to interpretation.

A straight person might just see them as friends because it's content and we all like to see content that represents us -even if they already have abundances of it.

And a queer person might see them as potential lovers, both due to being more open-minded to something like that and because, as I previously said, people like to be represented.

Now I don't mean to say straight people aren't open minded because, fact is, your sexuality does not define how open you are to things. All I'm saying is a queer person is more likely to already be open-minded due to having to realise their sexuality is different from the perceived 'normal' and having to be accepting of it.

So in conclusion, yeah 2 guys can absolutely only be best pals but that might just be how only you see it, and maybe there's something you need to look deeper into if you're getting upset at people interpreting the relationship of 2 fictional guys as romantic.

Miles Edgeworth

The case in which his father died is the root of all the tragedy in the first 3 games. He even thinks he killed his father at first which is very sad and he has lasting trauma from the incident (his father died in an elevator during an earthquake. edgeworth is shown to panic and shut down during earthquakes or something similar like airplane turbulence and he avoids taking the elevator whenever possible)

Miles Edgeworth is the most repressed individual you'll ever meet. He is a chess player and everytime he has a chess board he puts the red pieces (him) cornering a blue piece (HIS RIVAL/THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE). He told the aforementioned rival his ex girlfriend died by telling him "her metabolic processes are concern of only historians". He dresses like a victorian child. He is a steel samurai fan. Almost christmas means it wasn't christmas

Sakuya Sakuma

OUGH okay hello I’m gonna yell about my little guy here. Obviously he’s an orphan; parents died when he was really small, passed around to different family members, and BOY does it affect him. He’s not colossally depressed or anything but it does give him abandonment issues, a general sense of loneliness, and a latent fear that if he’s too sad or angry then he’ll get sent to live somewhere else. Even after he joins his live-in theater company, though he does start moving past it there. Despite all that, he always strives to be kind and caring and cheerful, yes in part because he felt like he had to be but also because he just generally is. He’s so very loved in the place he’s at to the point that a number of grown adults (he starts the series at 17!) openly admit that they look up to him. TRULY one of the characters ever I’m so incredibly normal about him

ok so i havent been caught up in years so forgive me if i get the details wrong but he's just a ball of sunshine despite all he's gone thru (multiple foster homes, never really feeling like he belonged anywhere). like he literally put his everything into acting because it was the only place he could go that wasn't back to a foster home (the company has dorms for the actors), to the point where he was doing "solo" shows (he had a bird as a supporting actor) just to bring in enough people to keep the acting company from shutting down completely. also it's the way that he FINALLY found a place to call home and people to call family and he was SO DESPERATE to hold onto that when his fellow troupe members threaten to leave (at least once for each of them for a minimum of 5, but only one at a time. u would think they would catch on at some point and not do that). also the sleepover cg in act 1 makes me feel like crying like they're finally on the same page and ready to work together and they look so comfortable and vulnerable with each other and it just AUGHH because they only did that after sakuya decided to sleep on the stage on his own and got caught by another troupe member who dragged in the rest of them too like hello?? crying

so...i wrote a fic for the first time in four years...and it's on ao3. i'm not too good at the whole self promotion thing but hey, might as well tell some people i wrote something! i'm trying to ease into writing longer shit and more complex fics with plot, but first we got this: a mondo-centric sorta thing? a bit of exploration with his character and daiya’s death, nothing much, but i found it super interesting when I was listenting to kendrick lamar then suddenly realized i had to write fic and write it IMMEDIATELY.

Oh adding onto this idea because I’ve been thinking about it the entire day:

- Taka’s the protagonist here, 100%. So many things would revolve around that weird dynamic he’s got with Mondo it’d be hard to say otherwise.

- a lot of the cases would end up terribly different, as in I’d have to rewrite complete new ones and all.

- I feel like Mondo kinda tries to keep him alive(sorta) like a weird attachment, because Taka is so full of hope why would you get rid of him so quickly? What’s interesting about that? So it’d be a little interesting to see Mondo try and get Taka out of a bad situation with subtle hints and jabs if he was accused of something.

- That fic will so end up with bundles of character analysis, as in I wanna break open Mondo and Taka’s heads like a brain surgeon and pick at it. And of course other characters too but like…mostly them :3

- Finally, this can be the best excuse ever to rewrite shit and give characters like Leon and Sayaka more time to shine(I LOVE LEON, OKAY? SUE ME! Also Sayaka’s quick descent…I wanna pick at that more)

The urge to write fanfic of mastermind mondo with a dabble with ishimondo is so STRONG. Think of not only the betrayal, but how Taka is like the antithesis of that damn school and sorta despair(in a way??). Doesn’t wanna be called a genius, wants to think the best of people and assume they’re just as righteous as he is with the same values(I mean…it’s kinda arrogance and naivety…never forget the “murderer raise their hand” idea he had, BUT it’s from a good place!) until they strongly prove otherwise. He has hope, and djfjfjjfjrjrjrjrkjk guys just imagine with me PLEASE how good this can get. Do you SEE my vision?!??!
